Yet another question about my N reg felicia

Featured Replies

just had a gander inside the fuel flappy thing (where you put the fuel in lol) and had a look at the recommended tire pressure. My tires say 165/70R13 on them. on the table thing it says i should put it as 39psi on the front tires, and 29psi and the back tires. The back seems ok but the front seems a little high seen as most people set theirs to early 30's? Should i go set them to 39 or should i set them a little lower? Also is it best to go to one of them air thingies in petrol stations or can i do it with a foot pump with a gauge on it? It would probably be easier to use the air thing but im not sure on the cost.

ALSO! You know that Tesco BOGOF on wiper blades? do ya think they'd have them in the store in Huddersfield Town Centre or would i have to buy them offline?

It's in all stores AFAIK (although to one I got mine from didn't advertise the fact - I only got the discount at the checkout!)

Haven't been to Tesco in Hudds in ages, but I imagine they will have them.

39 seems very high for the fronts, I'd generally go for 30 all round. I wonder if the label is perhaps slightly faded somehow. Sometimes the air things are free, sometimes you have to pay, and often they're out of order. I keep a double barelled foot pump in the boot, you can get one for about £5 from Wilkinsons. The accuracy will be about as good as the petrol station air things, if not better.

yeah i thought it seemed too high. I bought a foot pump from Argos for a tenner with a gauge on it so it could sit in me boot if i needed it. I'll try checking my tires tonight after ive had my english exam. You know when you are pumping your tires, does the air come out as soon as you unscrew them little caps? and if air does escape how do you stop it? Do you just work quickly lol? Im just wanting to know what to expect so i dont get suprised and fluff it up.

The caps are just covers to stop muck getting in the valve. A little air may come out when you push the end of the foot pump onto the end of the valve, and take it off. With a little practice you'll get the knack of putting it on and taking it off quickly to lose minimal air. Don't worry about losing air as it just means you have to pump it a bit more :)

oh thats a relief cheers, been putting off doing it cause i dont really know what to expect. I'll get out tonight and definately do them after my exam (which is in about 2 hours, and is a 2 hour exam! ARG-stress!).

Mine says :

Pay load half: 29rear 29front

Pay load full : 32 rear 38 front

Dont know what a full tank counts as ?

A couple of lb's more for a few more mpg is what I do as well.

I do 31rear and 31front.

When I had a N reg Felicia it didn't have Power Assisted Steering (PAS).

The extra pressure in the fronts certainly helped when going round corners.

Of course, if you want arms like Arnie's, then leave them low.

The figures Ian Smith quotes sound about right for 165s.

Half-load tends to mean full tank of fuel, driver and up to 2 adult passengers with hand bags (or similar): Full load would mean 4 adults and holiday luggage.

Ah that makes sense i was wondering what the full/half load thing was on about. Just gonna let my tires cool down before i start pumping them up (just done about 3 miles in it back from college) and i dont think ur meant to pump them up when they've been working. Do it after about 6

Thanks for your help guys i really appreciate it. :)

*Update on Tesco wiper blade situation* Buggers don't have them at the Hudds main store. My stepdad went and even asked someone there and they said they dont have 'em in. GRR. :mecry:Stupid really cause its a big store in the town centre.

3 miles wouldn't make much odds on tyre temperature, but you very much are doing the right thing in letting them cool off. I used to have a mate who managed a garage, and reported it was amazing the number of people who came in from doing a 200 mile trip and promptly set their tyres down to 6PSI too low!
