Going to look at 116k vrs. . . .

Featured Replies

Howdy peeps. Im after a vrs, and am off to look a black 2003 fabia vrs tomorrow, with 116000 miles on it. I asked on the phone, and its had one company owner from new, with full service history. Now normally id not look twice, but i keep reading how PD`s will go on and on providing there cared for, and i really like the sound of it.

So first of all, is there anything that tends to go at this sort of mileage? Anything to look out for? Also, what mileage does the cambelt need doing at? My mate seems to think its every 60k, if so, and its due, what sort of cost would it be? Last one, i would be hoping to get a remap, providing its all good, would a map be ok at this sort of miles?

Thanks in advance

Matt

That sounds like it has been around a few maps 116000 is quite high sort of double the average good luck with it, might be ok though

Should be fine at 116k miles if serviced correctly.

I'd avoid a remap though as the turbo and clutch may cause you issues as they have been well run in.

Keep it standard if you get it ;)

As your in Milton Keynes, there is a very good Tech'y in your area by the name of Lummox, he might Know the car, might be worth sending a pm to him.

Suspension bushes will need replacing....

its about 300quid for a cambelt, and another 150-200 for a major service too.

as long as its been serviced right it should be good.. my old one is still going strong after 110k and its been remapped for most of that and not had an easy life ;)

The car is down in high wycombe, but thanks anyway.

If its only clutch and turbo before a map, they were on my "to do" list if i were to map anyway, however, i might not even want to map it anyway. (coilovers for sure though)

Thanks for the help people, i`ll let you know if im a fellow briskodian tomorrow.

Thanks

What sort of money is it up for, out of interest?

That mileage wouldn't particularly put me off either, if it represented a good buy and the car was in good condition. Overall, it may well have had an easier life compared with something of mega low mileage. With that mileage it has of course spent a great deal of time on motorways, which could be said to be a good place for it - in terms of wear and tear on components.

116k... makes my 70K-er seem quite youthful! :)

There's a 90K-er on 'trader at the mo for £4550...

Thats my thoughts. If its one company owner, its prob been well looked after, and spend all its time up and down the M roads. Its up at £4500. Cant wait to look at it now, taking my step dad, keep me from doing anything silly. lol:thumbup:

Best of luck

I remember looking at one that had done 110k last year, on 54-plate. The general condition of the bodywork and especially the interior put me off; hadn't been well looked after at all. So it wasn't the mileage that put me off...

Good luck matt

lol, if you see a black vrs waiting outside ur work/house tomorrow, you know how it went. :D

Just remember - the old adage  a diesel will 'go one for ever' (if looked after).

But - it's everything else that will start to fail - it has done over 110k so suspension, bushes, shocks, clutch, electronics will have had a good bashing.

Mine is just about to turn 111k, still goes strong, as Col said, it's been mapped for ages now, still on original clutch & turbo, doesnt miss a beat.

me dads tdi comfort is on 123k+ now on original suspension still going strong! everything works still :)

its all sounding good then. Im off to see it at 3pm, so ill let you know what it was like.

Well?

Well?

Exactly what I was thinking!

if he hasn't posted he's probably out enjoying it  without thinking of the consiquences of not putting any piccies up on here first. :(

Bad man !

I hope he bought it. :)

Those engines are bullet proof. I had a PD130 in a Golf. At 10k i remapped it. At 80k i fitted a hybrid turbo. I sold it at 190k and it still produces 220bhp and doesn't use any oil so go figure.
