The suspension, she squeaks.

Featured Replies

After I had the KW suspension, the squeeky suspension I had been plagued with went all quiet for a while. Now the squeek is back again, just like before.

My local dealer is currently trying to resolve this issue on another of our forum members cars, and has so far changed (on the other car) the drop links and ARB bushes. They have ordered a whole new ARB for this car now, and if this solves the problem they will do the same to mine, even though the warranty runs out in 2 weeks and the modified suspension. They will fix it under warranty:D.

This happened to my Octy vRS they swapped the whole lot and it has solved the problem hope it works for u.

Still waiting, the problem seems to be very common and there is a shortage of ARB :( . IIRC the ARB has a plastic skin and the revised part does not, this makes the new ARB slightly thinner? and the bushes are revised to match the new diameter. I had the new spec bushed fitted with the old ARB without realising this obviously made the problem worse

Must say it

Had a squeak out of my car, tought it was coming from the suspension, and every time i closed the door i heard this niose and then i found it was abit of metal rubbing off the top of the rad.

Please can you post an update to this thread as I am very keen to find out if new ARB fixed the problem ?

I have been updating another thread on my experience with this self same problem and I feel that it might be wise to post a table (bit like the coil pack one) to gauge the problem across all members.

Perhaps the column titles as follows:-

Squeek/Knock Parts Changed Resolved

NSF OSF BOTH ARB Bushes Drop Links ARB Shock/Spring Y/N

Unless anyone has any better ideas ?

The Coil Pack survey is really good, perhaps the creator would be kind enough to adapt it for the suspension survey ?

I have had a similar knocking from the suspension from my 2000 model year Mk 4 golf (I think the suspension set up is the same as the Octavia).

The dealer provided revised parts which has cured the knocking completely.

You have to change the bracket to match the new bush.

The part numbers provided are 1J0411314R (Mounting) and 1J0411336D (Clip).

The ARB fitted is 21mm in diameter and the bushes are shown on EKTA as 19mm. They do fit and are easy to change.

Hope this helps

Doug

Still awaiting new ARB, skoda have appologised for the delay and advised that there is a large backlog in orders for the part. By the end of June my new ARB should be with the dealer so I will let you know the outcome.

I will get new brackets orderd now to avoid any more visits to the dealer.
