Tuning a Suberb 2.5 litre V6 TDI (155 bhp)

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just joined up on behalf of a work mate. He's got a 52 plate Superb with the 2.5 V6 TDI (155bhp). Any idea what tuning options he has? I've checked Revo, Jabba etc and they don't mention this engine in there tuning options.

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Have you actually phoned Jabba though as I found them very helpful ?

Ups the BHP to 185, and the torque to 267lbs/ft for less than

I don't know figures.....but I understand that some silly numbers can be achieved.........clutch melting figures!!!!!!!!

Give Jabba a ring. I've heard that Mike reckons he can get well over 200bhp and some ridiculous amounts of torque. They'll happily play with the engine, I'm sure, but still stay well within mechanical parameters.

Chris, also remember you can fit (although snugly I reckon) the 2.5 V6 TD lump in the fabia chassis ;)

Tempting or what ?!? :D

Hmmmmmmmm......

Do you know if it's an all-aluminium block, or if it would make the car a little more nose-heavy than it already is? ;) Also imagine that the V6 wouldn't purr quite as nicely as it's petrol equivalent - lol

Chris

Doesn't seem very much when you consider the Jabba treatment (365 quid) can get you up to 185bhp and 300+lbft from the PD130 lump

Indeed...but that's the 130 lump, and long term performance has yet to be proven! :)

Rob.

Also the TDI 2.5 isnt pd, so the controls over pre-injection etc are limited.

I think the pd130 is much more tuneable, but no-where near as smooth as the V6 TDI..

Whats the difference between the Skoda 130 & the golf 150 Engine, Im asking as Ive been told the long term reliability of a tuned 130 is possibly questionable due to head problems whereas a tuned 150 is OK. Or is this just another rumour that someone has floated

As I understand it the pd150 has some components strengthend to withstand the extra grunt, and a different turbo and intercooler I belive.

As far as I aware, other than that there isnt too much difference, only the price and of course more rumble for the pd150.

I had the 'same' engine in my A4 TDi Quattro which made 179bhp and 285lb/ft with a Tuning Box on the rolling road, and 185bhp / similar torque with an Oettinger (expensive) re-chip.

As Kentish mentions, the engine can be tuned higher than my figures - I'm sure Mike can achieve more safely, but don't expect the same massive gains that you will get from the 130PD.

It goes to show how things have moved on in diesels in a few short years. The Scoobynetters couldn't accept that I was getting such 'high' torque out of a diesel - but this is a poor result for a tweaked 1.9 nowadays ! I like the sound of the new Audi V6 3.0 diesel ...

The new A6 uses the 3.0V6 Diesel -- what a truly fantastic engine that is - even with 0 miles on the clock - the way it picks us is just amazing -- and none of that diesel clatter - in fact when your driving the only thing that tells you its a diesel (apart from the grunt) is the fact that the red line is so low.

Should be interesting to see what the likes of Jabba can produce from it - if it's anything like the other Audi engines the quoted bhp will be well down on what its capable of....

Like the BMW 3.0 then, that even sounds the same as the 3.0 petrol from in the car! Strangely doesn't seem so easily tunable though?
