which color vrs?

Featured Replies

I'm a couple of days from ordering a new octy vrs tdi cr dsg. I've made my pick and decided to go with the hatch model equipped with xenons, all leccy windows, detachable towbar, maxi-dot, jumbo, cruise, sound system, audience h/u, bluetooth, standard 17" alloys and possibly rear parking sensors.

Only thing causing a slight headache now is the color. Personally I'd go with white, but swimbo thinks it looks cheap. What do you guys think? Other option would be to get corrado red. It's a company car so there's a limit to the price of the car. So choosing metallic paint would mean giving up some of the toys..

So, white or red hb? I've seen some nice pics of the white ones, but what about corrado red? So, fellow briskodians I ask you to help me out - post some pics of your either red or white hatchbacks!

Red!

The white does look nice when new but I always think that white cars seem to date quicker.

How come you have gone for the 17" alloys? Are the 18" not available on the free upgrade anymore?

Whichever you choose, I hope you have a much fun with it as I do!

black is good, silver looks alright. blue is nice but common, personally after seeing vrs toms i would go red!!

It's got to be white !

Whichever colour you choose...enjoy the car !

White.

I wish mine was white!!

Don't get as much choice when you're not the 1st owner though.

Red for me, dont know why but i think that it really suites both MK1 and MK2

Between red and white, I think I would go for red.

Blue can't be that common, I was the only one at the camping, and there were 3 black ones.

white for me as thats what im hoping to get next. I thought corrida red was a solid colour though as the flamenco is the metallic so you wouldnt have to give up your toys!

I ordered the blue, then saw the White at the showroom:drool::drool:, very f**king nice indeed. Also not very common, not metalic so you're saving £££'s and could be fun on the motorway when people getting a first glimpse might think ur a cop.

I live in Finland, so I'd have to pay for the 18". Also especially during spring/early summers our roads are very rough due to ppl using spiked winter tires. That and nasty policy in here for patching roads instead of giving a whole new tarmac means 18" would be a whole lot more noisy.

I can appreciate the better grip / handling 18" would possibly bring, but I'm looking for a relaxed "travel companion" with a bit of a kick. For an all out sports car I could have just as well taken the new Leon Cupra, but I find the vrs a better compromise between a sporty car, relaxed road missile and a family car. Plus, after owning a Furby vrs - what can I say, I'm sold for Skoda atm. It was by far the most enjoyable car I've ever owned with no problems what so ever.

Currently I'm driving a Megane II Estate with 1.9dci 130bhp and a 6-speed manual. It's very quiet compared to furby, has the same straight line character and has plenty of boot space. However it totally lacks character... just plain boring. Plus the added benefit of some "french features", like not being able to set cruise control to 80km/h or 132km/h. Instead you have to drive 78 0r 82 and it also jumps from 130 to 134km/h... totally weird.

Well, enough about the frenchie... I drove the "old" vrs tdi with pd engine and found it very enjoyable. From what's been said about the CR engine, it should be even better.. plus the dsg! The PD unit I found to be very similar in character as the pd130 in furby. Also on the 17" I found it to be suprisingly quiet. The tire noise has been complained about in every test, but I didn't find it too bad. I also drove the new audi a4 with 1.8tfsi and multitronic which had almost similar tire noise. The audi had 215/55 R16 tires so one should expect it to be a bit more quiet.

A bit OT but hey, I like the car!

i pdi a white one recently, put rear dvd player in and lowered it, looked alot better than the blue one that i own!!

Don't be so sure about 18s giving better grip/handling. they will most likely in the dry when it is warm, 10-15 degC or more BUT 17s will give a more forgiving handling response and better grip when it is cold and wet. I have a set of 17s for the winter (October to April) and 18s for the summer (May to September).

In their 2007 tyre test EVO magazine found that in the wet a Golf GTI on 225/45 17s was 2.5 secs per lap quicker than on 225/40 18s (over a 70 sec lap) in the WET, using the same brand of tyre.

You have made the right choice!

As for colour? Here is a pic of my Corrida Red vRS to help you. Also white will show the dirt terribly and will look camouflaged against a snowy background in the winter.

You are all wrong I'm affraid, Sprint Yellow is the choice of colour to go for especially as you do not have to worry about depreciation :D

Thanks all for your input and replies. Spent most of yesterday evening browsing the forums trying to find pics of white and red ones..

So after sleeping a night on it, I made my mind this morning and decided to go with the white one. As it's a company car with full perks, I get wash and wax kits for free or can take it to a car wash when it's dirty.. so in that sense the expectation of white color being a pig to keep clean it doesn't matter. Also I used to have a black magic furby.. I can't imagine any color being harder to keep clean!

Anyway, a white vRS hb cr tdi dsg with a load of goodies should be ordered any second now.. just notified the car lease company to go ahead with it. Happy to get all the toys I wanted as well.

Br,

Juha

I Agree!!!

Yellow is the true stand out colour. But if you can't stomach yellow then it's white all the way! I didn't know that White was an option when I got mine, thats why I got Silver.

Go For Yellow!
