lovely!

cosmetic mods? the bog standard comfort looks a little boring - your's certainly doesn't!

And where were you turning off to at that speed!!

 I didn't notice that at first!

Rob.

you ask for opinions where the are no superb owners...

You might just notice my avatar PetRan.. ;)

The Superb looks nice m8 anyway.

 I didn't notice that at first!

Rob.

Overtaking I think, do they drive on the right over there

Overtaking I think, do they drive on the right over there

Dunno...only been to Greece once, and they seemed to pretty much drive where they like! :D

That was probably just because I was in taxis though... ;)

Rob.

Superb taxis ;)

Superb taxis ;)

They do it so well! :D

Rob.

A bit classier than a Vauxhall Cavalier :)

yeah, over here we drive pretty much wherever we like ;):D you are right rob

also most time we keep on the right side of the road :D:D like alex said,

so this is overtaking in the foto

on that time I only had the abt program, with nothing else..

the car performs much better now...

ah, i forgot to mention before that I also have some splitfire spark plugs installed..

and that sums it up for engine mods.. very basic stuff

huck, as for cosmetics, I had a connoly leather sallon of my taste installed,

some milotec things like the silver mirror caps and the front lower grille etc,

3m window shade stuff and some silvery line beneath the windows from skoda dealership

If I was to advice one on which version to buy, I'd say to go for elegance

BUT

without woody interior and no silver line on the bumper/rear bumper/sides of the car

the above 2 things in my opinion make the car way too conservative

also get it with the cheapest version of wheels/tyres and change them immediately with something size 18

Not a bad suggestion that. Save some money on the buy price to give you more modding budget.

And those wheels. Look very smart. Has that kind of seriousness look in terms of quality and luxury but without being OTT in the slightest. How did you manage to align the spokes perfectly for the photo in your sig? Looks almost like a photoshop effort :D :P

Very very very nice car.

Octy vrs are ok, fabia vrs are even nicer, a sport-elegance barge, now you're talking :D:thumbup::rubchin: ;)

tfboy, its been a long time since i had to update my signature pics..

the one you are refering to, is indeed a fotoshop thing

1signature.jpg

first i 'painted' my car in fotoshop, and then went out and do the thing that satisfied me the most

sportec wheels cost so much I had better be sure that they were exactly what I wanted :D:D:D

sig-side-1.jpg

this is a real foto, only with some blurring effects since the car was stationery at the time ;)

I will update my signature soon

good observation..u got a good eye

also on the fotoshop painted pic, the size..mm.. maybe look like 19's after all.. didnt get the scaling bit right.. :D

Andy (kentish) hi!

how many kilometers have you done with your superb?

eventhough our motors are not the same,

please tell me anything that you have noticed in the car or changed it

me, I have changed the sunroof because of a tick-tick noise, and when we pulled out the old one, we found out that one of the two levers that keep it straight was broken

also I had noise from the lock of the co-driver's door, fixed that just with silicone spray and a screwdriver..

I also get wind noise from the mirrors and the roof occasionaly, but that happens only in very high speeds (>220) and I am not sure wheather this is faulty or not..

Its done 8k in 15 months, and nothing has been changed or done to it.

Love the car PetRaN. It looks very nice.

I'm still waiting for my Superb to arrive, should get it on the 1st September.

You mention ordering the Elegance without wood trim. I wanted to do this, but Skoda UK (and all the dealers I spoke to) told me that I couldn't do this. Is this possible in Greece?

As I've gone for the TDi 130, I'm planning on getting either the Revo or DMS remap. The main reason I've chosen these two is because they both have an option to switch the mod off and on, which is important as mine is going to be a company car.

Getting back to the question in the thread, I think I would stick with the vRS if I had the choice. I would have gotten a vRS Estate if the insurance group had been lower, but my company now restricts us to cars in group 15 or below :(

Bagpuss.

1.5 years back when i got mine, it was not possible..

i offered to wait for special order, even to pay as an extra the no-woody-stuff

but still the dealer was not able to meet my needs..

very silly thing!!!

i thought that this would have changed by now, unless they believe that everybody loves woody stuff in their cars..

as for me, I am 31 and the only place i love wood is in the forest.

bagpuss, i believe that u made a very good and smart choice by going for superb

as for chip tuning etc, I am completely unable to speak about it, since i know nothing about TD engines

I am very interested though to learn about it, so I will remain tuned for your news!

Bagpuss..

If your limited by your company insurance to a gp 15 or less, are you sure they will wear the chipping/modding, regardless of whether its switchable or not?

I'm in the process of checking this out.

From what I understand, it was my company who put the group 15 thing in place, as there was a recent spate of young, inexperienced drivers writing off cars that were simply too powerful for them.

From speaking with the insurance company, they have assured me that their cover extends to any vehicle on the fleet regardless of insurance group.

I am still trying to get an answer on whether they would cover the car if it was modified.

I guess that my main concern centers around the warranty issues with modding, as I don't want the dealer to turn around and deny a warranty claim on the basis of it being remapped. If I can hide the mod, then this helps to lower the possibility of this happening.

If it all begins to look a bit dodgy, then I'll just give it a miss, and stick with the standard maps.

Bagpuss.

oh! and about the dilemma thing..

try to dilemma on this about boring..

I see that Witchfinder's mind has been made up by SWMBO, but I still like the idea of the 1.8T Superb. Great value, very comfortable, lots of room, potentially a better suspension platform and the same tuning options - all as PetRaN mentions.

Definitely a better bet than the ageing Octavia ? (Now where is that flame-suit-on icon?)

Thankyou...but No Thankyou.

Bagpuss, the dealer will be able to tell and will invalidate your warranty, unless they are one of the very few who are prepared to overlook such things.

that's exactly how it worked for me fabreza ;)

so now everybody keeps telling me how come a car this big moves that swiftly...

i enjoy this very much :D

p.s. no need to bring the flame thrower stuff, we are all on the same side :)

PetRaN

Serious question (for Kentish as well), what don't you like about the Superb ?

I can only think of minor points. My logic says its a bigger Octavia which gets rid of most of the faults ?

Ever so slightly soft suspension for town use and A roads, but perfect for motorways. Rear door is really big, so extreme care is required in car parks etc, and seeing as it the kids in the back its even harder to observe.
