Prices Of Second Hand Fabia vRS's

Featured Replies

I have a friend who is so impressed with my Fabia vRS that he wants to get one later this year or early part of next year.

And has asked me to look at the possible prices that he may have to pay.

(I know this is a question that no one can really accurately answer…but give it a go)

With the impending arrival of the new vRS??? would they still be expensive to buy second hand? Especially if they are going to make it with a much hotter engine he is hoping that the second hand car prices will hopefully come down?

Hope folks can advise thanks

a new model will have no bearing on 2nd hand prices..these cars hold their price and will drop accordingly with the older they get.

Or, we could look at facts...

If the new model is good, then the old one will take a hit, if it's poor then the old one will be as normal.

This has happened with a lot of other cars...

Its a VAG Diesel with a PD engine

residuals will always be pretty good

If as i have been lead to understand the new vRS is petrol only then it may be that old vRS residuals strengthen with people wanting a wrm hatch with 50 mpg capability. Depends if the gap in fuel prices increases I suppose.

And if there is no new vrs(as the only place it sold in any real numbers was the uk)then residuals will remain strong too,so to sumerise, they will still be quite expensive, tho the earlier cars are quite cheap now:thumbup:

The early cars are not cheap at all - they are still going for £5,000-ish for an 03/53 plate car which means the car is still worth 50% of it's new value at 5 years old. Those residuals are quite frankly staggering. Normally, a good car would be 50% at 3 years and 30% at 5 years old, so to be retaining almost 50% at 5 years is very good indeed.

And given that they now seem to be the new Saxo for youngsters, I suspect they're going to stay pricey for quite some time.

Here are a couple of examples sold at auction in the last couple of weeks,04 53 plate in red 38000 miles and mint sold for £4800,04 04 in yellow 1 owner 30000 miles fsh sold for £5525 and is up for sale at a local dealer for £6995! Prices do seem to of dropped lately but dealers still seem to want crazey money for them.

Thanks to all who gave their opinion.

p.s., I know I keep saying this but....never been so chuffed with a car-my Fabia vRS

Surely we want the price`s to hold up?! We already own one, i dont want to lose anymore than i have to!

there are bargins out there. I only paid 5K for my 04 with FSH 68K. But it does need some work on the body done.

With the price of TAX and fule going stupidly high people want a reliable and cheap to run cars that still have some performance. Thats what I did, i sold my TFSI LEON as it was going to be £440 to tax soon.

So the VRS is always going to be quite highly priced......

i paid £7k for my 04 over a year ago now and the same dealer garage i got it from is still selling the same age'd car at the same price and i aint complaining ;)

Skoda dealer near me just sold an 06 (no extras) with 17k on the clock for £10,000. As soon as they come in, they sell - barely any time for a valet! There is a barage of phone calls when they get one in and you have to act fast to get in the running to hand over your cash.

I bought my vRS in February. 16k on the clock, first reg Sept '04 and I paid £8,500.

Any VAG car kept well with fsh will always hold a good residual value. With tax and fuel so high, I think it will slow depreciation considerably until someone comes up with another decently engineered, small, fast, practical and economic diesel. With recession looming, servicing costs need to be considered and Skoda's are by no means the dearest.

What do you think mine is worth then??

'53 plate, Yellow vRS, 58,000. New cambelt, oil change 312 brakes.

Good condition. What do you reckon?
