Octavia 54 Stereo and Reversing Display

Featured Replies

I'm picking up my 54 plate octy elegance on Monday, the standard stereo has the reversing sensors built into the display on it, if I replace it with an off the shelf unit the dealer said I'd lose the visual display AND the warning tones, is this correct?

Failing that is there a Skoda head unit that will display the reversing sensor warnings? Or is the dealer wrong, will I still get the audible tone with the head unit removed?

You will lose the visual display, but the audible warning will still work as this is separate from the headunit.

Oh, thats not so bad then, I might just get a nice kenwood touch screen jobby with a suitable surround then. Can live with just the bleeps, shouldnt be looking at the dashboard when parking anyway!

Is there anything else that comes up on the stereo screen that i'd miss, the car isnt maxidot either.

Basically, everything. Outside temp, clock, confirmation of everything you do on the climatronic unit... and it looks pretty.

So what can I do to maintain these? I was also thinking of just getting hold of a "Stream MP3", how about the MFD2's and 3's?

I think only the Stream /Mp3 (and possibly Audience) display these, but not the color display units.

If you have Maxidot and steering wheel controls you will loose both with an aftermarket unit, although you can recover the controls with the suitable adapter.
