Tour De France using facelifted octys

Featured Replies

Just spotted on the Tour De France coverage on ITV4 that they are using facelifted Octy II's, so if you want to have a look at one then pop on over to ITV4. Look for the red octys.

u sure theyre not superbs? they look identical. why would they use cars which arent due for release for at least another year??

The bright red one right behind the leaders is deffo a Superb

Yes, the red ones. Just goes to show how the front of all the cars are starting to look the same.

it doesnt help that their moving ( i presume! i cant see i dont have the telly on!) and there all stickered up but the new superb has its launch at the tour de france. so I doubt they would let the facelift octy on show

Nice

The clue might be in the Sign on the top that says Skoda Superb :P:rofl:

Nice

Did you take a photo of the picture on your tele?

No got a digital tv card in my pc, its a screen grab

the aspect ratio is a bit out (sides looks squashed)

The cars in the peliton last year were all Octy estates, I think Elegance spec, I was on crowd control as it came through Kent last year. You can still see the Skoda logo painted on the road as you come off the A2 into Canterbury! I think there were more Octavias in the City than any other car that day, with the TdF cars, all the Canterbury taxis (standard Octy's) and our ERV's (Octy vRS's).

Theres a nice little clip HERE from the website.

Nah, think you'll find that it's an Octy Estate unfortunately.

Back on the OP's original question I must admit when I was watching I had to do a double take to see if they were facelifted Octy's but as has been mentioned it son became apparant they were new Superbs. Quite looking forward to having a look at it in a few weeks time when a preview car is visiting our local dealership.

But don’t the bikes look great:thumbup:

I see some of the riders are sponsered by Skoda too

Seems like a split decision so far.

I was thinking that the Red cars were facelifted Octys too (from watching the highlights programme last night). It is really difficult to be sure though as you only get brief clips of the cars, never the same one twice, and always at the wrong angle.

Certainly from the front it is the facelifted car so might be new Superb or Octavia but looking to the rear of the car it looks as if it is an Estate that would make it the Octavia.

Will have to watch some more tonight.

Yes; the bikes are good too; but I'd thought you'd be looking at the riders! ;)

Well they are quite impressive in the leg department:)

Anyone else agree that the new Superb is one fugly car?
