Fitting a dynatwist

Featured Replies

A nice shiny new Dynatwist induction kit has just arrived in the post (YAY! :D )

Going to be fitting it tonight and I've been reading previous threads on fitting them. It seems as simple as un-bolt the standard one, bolt the new one in, put the little mushroom filter on, run the ducting down and off you go.

Is that all there is to it or is there anything else I should be doing or looking out for?

So is yours mated up with the original air intake in the inner wing then? (tis what it looks like)

nope ... there's a gap between the inlet mouth of the DynaTwist and the inner wing (it's bigger than it looks in the piccy). The holes don't even nearly line up.

I did try to rig up a way of connecting the kit to the inner wing, but couldn't come up with anything, and when I stabbed myself in the hand with a piece of the wire that's inside the inlet hose, I abandoned the project and went to the pub instead.

:D

Works fine, but you need to keep an eye on the clamp that holds the whole caboodle in place or it can work loose and rattle.

Yea been there a few times myself (the situation - not the pub. Been there more than a few time :o )

I have the inlet pipe routed down to the lower lhs grill.

Had to move the horn to get a good position for it and drill out the grill.

A few well placed cable ties holds it all in place.

I also have a simple piece of metal to extend the bracket for holding the filter casing away from the the battery case.

Adrian, do you mean temporarily remove it just to run the ducting or permanently re-locate it!?

Well its on. Piece of ****!

Not too happy with the angle of the bend in the intake pipe though, it seems to block off at least 50% of the pipe bore. I Might just take it off but I'm a bit worried that I might just be getting hot air though. Any thoughts?

The angle on the inlet is the flexi you mean?

Datalogged on a Leon in the same fitment like this.. So long as it is'nt deformed out of round (squashed) airflow will be fine.

Its deffinately squashed. I've taken the ducting off now and it sounds great. probably getting nothing but hot air though!

That was why I took the ducting off mine, it was well squished. The hot air problem is something I have yet to have the time to fix, but it must be better than having the pipe crushed over the mouth of the filter box.

The noise gets better after a few hundred miles too ... :D

Si,

I permanently moved the horn to get a good angle on the ducting.

As for the ducting going into the filter cannister...yes...it's angled but mines not squashed.

As I said I have a piece of metal...L bracket flatened out....to pull the cannister away from the battery...this will allow the inlet ducting to straighten out a little.

Will try and take a picture and post it...if I remember.
