Just put 10% on a number plate!!

Featured Replies

Usually the plates are release at say 7am and 'x' amount of phone lines are open plus 'tinernet,so you take a chance and try phoning for hours until your lucky enough to get though.

The DVLA also hold back certain plates that they can make more money on and these go for auction in DVLA official auctions, which can be seen on their website.

What company did you buy it from?

Ahh i see. Some of the taxi drivers in my town have plates begining with TXI *** cheap Irish plates.

yes a firm round my way does that too, now moved on to using "CAB" on the new style plates. i did ask why have txi and four numbers it was hell of a lot cheaper than TAX1 and 3 numbers.

Up to £500 could be put to much better use on a Fabia vRS though, a plate really tidies up the handling and prevents dive on the brakes or even helps slow you down just like a 312mm setup :D:D:D

Silly silly. take it you dont have one

I paid 250, wouldnt spend much more than 500. Those who say they wouldnt waste there money are boring and prob cant part with there cash. Tight!!!

Yep. That's me. My only problem with them is that a plate that doesn't look ****e costs £££, and if I had £££ going spare to spend on my car, it would be on leather or a remap. I have no problem with a decent private plate (i.e: not one that has to be explained or have dodgy screws/bits of tape to make it 'readable') if that's what someone likes.

I would have a private plate, but something personal to me not a car. VRS plates are all good until you buy something else.

RO55 *** would be cool but requires me to buy a car thats a 55 plate or newer...lol

Something for the Golf would be nice.

have to agree with Lummox.

I have a plate which has my initials on it but when I change cars it always means it makes sense.

It's like all the BMW X5s going around with X5 on them unless you're buying the same car again then might as well sell it with the car but it's not adding value to the car.

I got my plate as a birthday present and it's been on 4 cars so far.

I've had my plate on several cars so dont really miss the cash.

My car is remapped and I'm going to seat surgeons on friday to have my leather fitted, hehe so I guess I have too much money eh

Some people usually sell the plate with the car stating a couple of hundred £££ extra. Or some plate companies will usually buy them back, but prob less than the price you paid.

Mine was a birthday pressie too, stays with me for life so I like it.

VR55 EXY (VRS SEXY) £2599.00 or to save yourself £600 you can have VR55 EXE

I have weighed it up and you'll never get the value of the plate back, best to stick to something more personal to you! I've see GO04 CHA (obviously for me) but its £800, and I cant warrent getting it, also looking for something more suitable!

Yep.. Got the ARB yet?

I've just had to buy tyres, it's due a service, and needs a visit to the bodyshop where the poxy jack slipped, so I have enough car spending going on.

I have just bought a private plate ( 58 )to go on my new car in Sept when I pick it up.

So I am confused as to why you are waiting to get the docs etc.

The 58's were released on 2nd June for purchase, and I got mine then, the document arrived 3 days later.

I think is is preference whether you have a private plate or not, they are usually personal anyway, Its the 'novelty' ones that can look sad.

Its because the OP is talking about an old style prefix plate (A123 ABC format)

From the DVLA website - DVLA Personalised registrations *

The F prefix (numbers 1 to 20) have not been released yet. As soon as a date has been confirmed full details will appear on our website. They cannot be ordered or reserved in advance.

The home page says they will be released some time in October, but has no further details yet

Well here is my 10% view on it for what it is worth. :D

I spent £280 on this bad boy and I love it to bits, has my initials and VRS on it can't go wrong with that.

R 055 GTI (0 being number 0 not letter O) Old styleee R plate. Unfortunatly I guess thats still to new for you GTI project?

Silly silly. take it you dont have one

I do have one, but it was not my money that bought it, the family could not decide what to buy me for my birthday so they got me a cherished plate.

I would not spend my own money on it when I could use that money to enhance my driving experience, car or bikes performance or indeed improve my driving / riding techniques.

It's all horses for courses, you spend your money on what you want. On a side note, what is silly about my statement? or is this the way the Fabia vRS is heading these days? ;)

mine looks like my name, T23EVR paid 250 for it too bargain will stay with me for life now

Like the **** in the X5 with the X5 plate that didn't stop at the give way coming out the car park at Southwaites and rammed into the side of us. Left a bash in the rear door and quarter panel (about £370 worth) but wrecked his bumper and front wing :D

All the plates I fancy are too expensive. I have seen 1 though with my 1st initial my luck number then the initials of my local footy team for £250 that I'm considering.

I had R9 XRX on my Octy from new until I exported it. And A9 XRX on my Audi (the original plate was D166BNP - not so good in the area I lived in!!)

No meaning just disguised the age and looked vaguely symmetrical.

Apart from the fact that there were no prefix plates with 0x or 0xx released, as 0 means nothing when its the first digit, just like you don't say i have a £05 note, do you?
