Wall mounting USB hub...

Featured Replies

I am after a source of port powered (ie no power supply) USB hubs that have a method of mounting them on the wall relatively securely (ie better and more professional than velcro/blu tack etc).

Something like a little round keyhole like recess in the back to interface with a screw head that looks something like this (ASCII art alert):

  __
| |
/ \
| |
\____/

would be great. Also if it had an inbuilt lead to the host PC of around 1 metre in length that would be good too.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Perhaps have a look on the back of your hub if you have one, which of course they never show on websites that sell them, and see if it could be mounted on a wall, if so put the make/model in the thread

Belkin's normally have them.

I have this one and just turned it over to have a butchers. There are no screw holes to be used, but maybe you could use the hole in the middle of the device somehow.

I used to have this Belkin one and it certainly had the detail you describe, that would allow you to hang it from two screws on a wall, if required.

Only thing with this model was it was just USB 1.0 speed. Depends what use you have in mind for it I suppose? Also, while supplied with a power adaptor, lower powered devices were able to be run without it. So as long as you're not wanting to put a USB scanner or external HDD on it you'll be OK.

just realised I'm talking bo**ox

The power supply is required by the spec if you want to run over a certain number of devices or a certain pull.

IIRC each port on the PC can only give 300mA, but I could be wrong, so the hub has to then share that between all the ports it has :(
