Hmm, if the "158bhp diesel" is the 1.9tdi pd block, then that means they've managed to squeeze two intercoolers under the bonnet? Thought it couldn't be done

Just realised thay call it the PD160

Nice car. Has the nice optional bits which make sense like 17" alloys with common wheel sizes, etc.

BUT, dunno whether it's worth an extra

Just one FMIC.

OOh, is it just one, albeit front mounted?

I thought that's why the polo and fabia couldn't have the 150 'cos there wasn't enough room under the bonnet.

Maybe was just the FMIC, I suppose the engine sticks out the front too much to fit a fmic as a post-factory upgrade...

Anyone working on this? Ross? ;)

Did anyone see the article in CAR about the new Pug 206 GTI Diesel? They say "against the Fabia [vRs?] it is an also-ran". But they also say theat it is better than the petrol GTI version, seems like Diesel performance vehicles are taking over :D

Saw it in TG...1.6 diesel with 110bhp...0-60 in just under 10 seconds, which I think is a bit worrying for something claiming to be GTi! :D

Rob.

i'd get the cupra if i was you,

but only if I found one in really excellent condition..

brakes are fine, steering is a bit better, it's got a turbo that with program, dp and cat-back it can give you 270hp...

*ahem*

:D

Look wot i found...

Few important things to note:

see the IC pipes run to the side, the standard locations of the pd130 IC.

the cupra is a tuned pd130 engine with this f**koff fmic and a slightly different turbo. Was talking to cpufreak about his car, hes been doing datalogging and apparently the inlet temp goes up by 1c a second when booting it. and his inlet temps were close to 80c

Now that's what I call an intercooler, looks like it's been nicked from a truck.

Shame a large bit of it is behind the number plate and bumper though

The Fabia has lots of potential btw for an intercooler. The bumpers have been made to homologate the length of the WRC car so there acres of room.

The one im in the process of designing and making is about half the size of that and flows through rather than return. It should be interesting to see what gains its gets, but anything will be an improvement over the std SMIC anyhow.

The new Cupra has a tweaked 150pd engine, here is all the info

I was thinking the same Ross, seems a lot of room between the rad and the huge strengthening bar behind the bumper. I was wondering about mounting one low down to get the air flow through the lower grille (below no. plate), looks like intercooler the size of iveco turbo daily 59.12 intercooler might fit nicely, will have to measure the one at work.
