What Turbo intake hose do i get?

Featured Replies

have been told i need to get a differant turbo intake hose for my vrs now its been mapped, but i dont know which one it is i need to get as there are quite a few differant ones for various 1.8t lumps.

does anyone have a part number of which one i need, (would like a forge or samco one ideally) or link to somewhere that has got them a decent price. was told to expect to pay about £60 i think?

Who told you that?

I'm still using the standard hose and have no issues?

I do have the ABD intake fitted though!

You don't need to fit one just because it's been mapped

You don't need a new one because your car has been mapped!! Who told you this ? Many people on here run mapped cars with the standard pipes and notice no difference when changing them.

I was told by respected tuners not to bother and i'm running around the max that the standard turbo can produce. Save your hard erned sterlings mate. It's the turbo that has the flow limit - not the pipe like many will have you belive.

i was told this by the company that mapped the car, MRC. they said that wen they get hot they sometimes collapse due to the amount of sucking the turbo's doin now. he said that if im in 5th and booting it and it starts to die then that could be why, has'nt done it yet tho but he said its quite common.

They have been known to collapse when running higher boost, something like a Samco should see you right.

I see now where your coming from but with a really high flow air filter less vacuum pressures will be generated putting less stress on the hoses. Mines running high boost and goes the Nurburgring every year and never had any issues. If you had a restrictive air box I could see the hose colapsing.

It happens on the standard airbox which flows fine, however its usually the K04 engines that suffer.

I thought it was the older 1.8t engines with rubber piping all the way to the turbo that had the collapsing problem. Infact there is a video of one on a rolling road collapsing somewhere. I think the vrs was revised wasnt it?

Ive got one for sale if you want one?

Samco jobbie that was on Bengies before?
