Underseat Storage Boxes

Featured Replies

These are normally factory fit items but surely they can also be dealer fitted. Of you folks that have had these fitted, how do you rate their usefulness - a handy/must have extra or a waste of space (no pun intended)?

i had one in my roo, and now the octy ive got has it. i found it to be a excellent use of space, im always using my cubby holes to store bits though. it also makes a great spot to put something that is charging up while your away from the car as it looks like the leads left loose and has gone under the seat, hiding the fact its charging your phone or satnav :)

I wanted them on mine but got a good deal on one that was in the country that didn't have them.

I did ask the dealer if they could be retro-fitted and they said they probably could if they knew what parts to order but they didn't know what would be involved or how much it would cost.

My guess is that a lot more than the £40 option!

If they were cheap enough, I would like them retro fitted but I don't keep that much stuff in the car that I'm running out of space.

There was an option on my last car (Zafira) where you got rails in the boot walls and various nets etc. £50 as a factory fit option.

Didn't bother when I ordered mine but enquired afterwards. One dealer quoted £450 parts and labour and another quoted nearly £600:rofl:

Needless to say I didn't bother.

If you cannot get a new car soon enough with them factory fitted, then it sounds like haggling time for a dealer fit job prior to closing the deal.

It is a bit like the steering wheel radio remote (goodness knows why is does not include hands free telephone on UK models????), both that and the storage boxes should be standard fit - especially on the flagship 3 grade.

Your dealer is taking the p*ss.

It's a couple of screw retainers and a bout 6 screws that go in through the box and into the seat bases.

If you look at my Octy II fire extinguisher how to you will see just how simple it is and the box is the same deal.

Just to make it clear in case my post was a bit ambigous -

the £450 to £600 quote was for the storage rails on the Zafira, not for the storage boxes on the Fabia!

There is no Underseat Storage Boxes for trim level 1 in my car.

But I've taken taken out the the black plastic cover (fixed with 1 clips and one screw [To unscrew it you need again thin and long fingers using torx key]) and mounted the Fire ex. using bicycle pedal straps.

You can see it only from this angle, but normally unvisible... :)

Actually saw them in the flesh. Quite dissapointed by their lack of capacity and awkward shape. No where near as practical as the underseat sliding trays fitted to many other makes.
