Lowering Fabia

Featured Replies

I am looking at lowering my fabia, and dont really have bundles of cash to spend on doing it.?

I have a 56 plate 1.9tdi Elegance, I am looking to lower it about 25mm.

I was looking at getting some vRS springs and fitting them, as that would stiffen up the suspension a fair bit, and also lower it a fair bit.

Would this work.?

If not, what would be the easiest//cheapest option to go for.?

If its a bit more or a bit less than 25mm its not a big deal, what ever would be best really.?

As all ways thanks for your replys... really helps!!!

i wouldnt think the vrs ones will make it any lower, is the vrs not a lot heavier and thats why they sit lower?

No Keith, the vRS is lower than a standard Fabia, and springs are suited to the extra weight of the vRS.

If you put non vRS springs on a vRS, it would probably sag a bit due to the extra weight. :)

Ah, yes could be, I was only going on what was said in the link above! Although I have read a few threads recently on the same subject so may have got a bit confused!

MicMason - If your looking for vRS Springs you can have my old ones mate. PM me for details.

So is it the same fitting on the vRS as on the eligence.?

How easy is it to fit new springs, and would it be worth having it done professionally.?

If i did have it done professionally, what kind of price do you think i would be looking at.?

Thanks for all your replys, really good.!

Fitting at a garage i would say £90 ish,

As a homer from someone, free if it's a mate, or £50 otherwise.

its over 200 to get them fitted at jbs in chesterfield which includes proper wheel allignment and camber check is this expensive?

Depends on their hourly rate, but say £90-100 to fit.

Then some places can charge £60-70 for an alignment, i wouldn't say it was too OTT.

How come the vRS is so much heavier than the normal fabia.?

The bumpers arent that much bigger/heavier.?

6 Speed box weighs a lot more though !

Went to go buy lowering spring yesterday, and apparently I need to buy something else for them to fit.? Was about £30, but for the life of me, I cant remember what it was.?

Apparently you need it on the vRS too.?

What is it, and why do you need it.?

Could I fit them without it.?

Michael

No ideas !!

New top mounts maybe ??

Dont think they're £30 though.

Did you just change the springs when you lowered yours.?

As i thourght it was a bit strange...!

drop links probably, but mines proper low not just 30mm and i havn't fit new drop links yet:thumbup:

Wiked... im not then.!

Ordering springs tomorrow.

Should be fitting on weekend.!

YEAAAAAHHHH.!

I just fitted the springs..that was it.

Wouldn't have thought you'd need drop links unless you're going mega low..but then, some (like oilburninnut) have gone low and not needed them.

Weird.

Nah not going LOW... just 35mm.. or 45mm.?

Cant decide which.?

Prob go inbetween and go for 40mm.?

Wouldnt be too low then, just stylish, and still get an "okay" ride quality.

Michael

So what springs are you going for ?

sorry to hijack - but as you are talkin about it anyway was wondering if anyone could recommend some springs? Thinking of lowering in the next month once wheels sorted.

hi there mate i asked this question not long ago lots of options but i have gone for eibach springs mate due to ride comfort and not wanting to go to low with the sump
