There was a random one I spotted in a mag a while back where the chap replaced the backbox with a turbo as there wasnt a lot of room under the bonnet, worked pretty well from what I understand,

I remember seeing that done on a big Yank car - Corvette or something.

looks a tidy motor, used to have a 1.9 many years ago on a J plate with PAS.

absolutely loved it! did several trackdays in it and it took the abuse well till it got to about 50k and the valve stem seals started to go! it got traded in for an alfa 155 soon after :D

have fun with it

I drove a 205 GTi a while ago that came in part ex scared the crap out of me, never experienced lift-off oversteer in a FWD before to that extent before!

Lol they were famous for it, especially the 1.9 and earned it a nickname of the widow maker among some of the people i know who were into the hot hatch scene back then.

Good choice.

I knew a chap that was a salesman at Charters of Aldershot who were big in the 205 and 309GTI tuning world.

He let me drive his supercharged 1.9 205 which was fearsome. I also drove a 309 Cheetah which was just a big valved 1.9 and pretty awesome.

I seem to remember the MI16 lump is quite a good fit and is 16 valves as well.
