Felicia 1.6 engines

Featured Replies

I have a 98 Felicia 1.6 which is in need of a replacement engine, the problem is i can't find 1 locally, does anyone know if any other VAG group 1.6 fits straight in or what changes are needed to fit a 1.6 from a Golf etc???

Thanks in advance

Cheers mate, just up the road from me but just a bit out of my price range, i cant imagine anyone paying £1100 for an engine for a Felicia, even if it is brand new

i've got 2 aee engines in my garage if you aint too far away...

they will swap over from a polo or a golf quite easily, you only need to change a few bits over.... engine mounting bracket and timing belt covers.. you need to change the flywheel too for the felicia one, plus you would need to 2cm thick plate that goes between the engine and gearbox. if you use a golf engine you need to change the sump too

How do you tell if the engine is an AEE???

I've been offered an engine out of a SEAT, its a 1.6 and looks similar.

If you wasnt 230 miles away i'd have had an engine off you.

on the gearbox end of the engine, above that sticky label, there is a number stamped into the engine block.... sorry it's quite hard to see it on this pic

the first 3 letters tell you he engine code, in this case AEE

Searching google confirms the AEE code engine has been used in Seats.

Will have another look at the engine tomorrow, its done 35k, already out car, £100

fair price i'd say

Worth a gamble at that price. And yes the MK2 Ibiza/Cordoba did use the AEE engine.

WELL....had a look at that engine and its an AEX, so carry on looking, must be a local 1 somewhere

Have you tried Eddlies yet? and what about Evas, they had a few Seat,s

AEX is an early one from a mk3 golf or ibiza 1400cc

Yes mate, tried everywhere local now, and no one has anything, even tried Lincoln and Donny

:)What's up with the original engine? Can it be repaired?

The original engine has done 130000 miles and smokes heavily, especially up steep hills, i need the car so a replacement engine is the quickest/cheapest option rather than an engine rebuild on the 1 that is in at the moment.

If i could find a cheap 12-17 seater minibus then the Felicia would go, i've even considered selling my S110R to fund a minibus, but i'd regret selling it. The Felicia averages around 500+ miles most weeks, i've done 300 over the weekend, so i need something reliable with the power to cope with the hills in Yorkshire.
