Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys?

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:

apparently mine makes calls but i don't get a chance as i am too buys using the net, satnav, sending texts and taking pictures.

Doesn't it mean that it will carry the radio wave through the mic and out the speaker at the other end rather than piggybacking the phone signal?

Interesting. Schern, just how are you modulating a 430MHz or so radio signal onto a typically about 200 to 4_000 Hz audio signal?

although i doubt it actually works, but your stating the frequencies the phones transmit on, i dont think that has anything to do with the theory. i think the idea is the remote fob sends a signal out which the phone somehow picks up and it is then repeated out of the other handset so that the car can pick up the signal and unlock.

it dosent matter the phone sends the signal by GSM, its the fact the actual mobile phone handset is able to repeat the remote fobs transmission (or not as i suspect the case maybe)

but lets face it all you really have to do is stick it to your head to get it to reach that little bit further. so if you get loads of people banging their heads together you could send the signal MILES!!! :rolleyes:

But it's completely the wrong signal for the carrier - like sending a train down a fibre optic cable, just can't work.

Why, other than sheer laziness when I've forgotten to lock the car, would I want a remote with a range of 300 feet?

Pretty pointless really, my range was so far once that when i got to the car it locked itself again (the head trick im on about)

Exactly; it's borderline whether I can get to the car before it relocks as it is.
