My Magic Black Octavia TDI!

Featured Replies

Hey ppl, just a quick photo of my Octavia.

A step up in fuel economy, also the handling feels tighter too.

Coming from a Astra Coupe Turbo, and a Vauxhall Omega 2.6 V6 Auto.

All comments welcome!

Thnx Ppl!

54 Plate-118,000 Miles! :o

Anyone have any idea if you can just plug and play with the rear door speakers?

Just done the oil and filter with Millers PD, fuel filter and airfilter. Runs sweet as a nut :D

Reconditioned box as part of the deal with the dealer..few things still need attention....but as of now its cheaper than the vaux omega!

Welcome aboard ...

View the mileage as a good sign of reliability.

It's only been able to clock up lots of miles if it's been in constant use,

i.e. not sat in a garage waiting to be fixed.

Good colour too, nice & menacing.

I have that in black too. 31k on an 06 plate 2.0l tdi for 10k

Love it so far

Thnx Ppl!

There the 17" Replica's.

Quick question...at night if i go through the gears down a sliproad away from a car it gushes smoke....i assume its only fuel being burnt.

But could a clogged intake manifold create more smog than normal?

Black smoke is unburnt fuel, 'cos you have too much fuel for the air being supplied. 1st step IMHO should be to check your air filter to see that it is clean.

Clogged intake manifold is unlikely, you'd notice a big drop in performance.

Try using a tank or two of Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate OR get a bottle of Miller DieselSport 4 to add to your fuel; either or both of these will help clean the fuel system and get the car running sweeter.

I have the same one a 55 plate with 64k bought for £4,800.

If a car is following you at night you will notice some smoke if your accelerating hard.

BTW what was wrong with the gearbox I thought the ones on the MK2 where bulletproof????

I've recently changed the oil and filter/fuel filter and the airfilter. Ive only had the car a week so still on my first tank. Which had a shot of redex fuel treatment in. As for a drop in performance i wouldn't know....not owned the car long enough.

I've a split breather to intake pipe, currently bodged together with a jubilee clip to see if it would pass some gasses at least. Going to the dealers at the weekend for a replacement.

Reason ive asked is that from some ppls experiences they have had deposits build in the intake manifold.

The gearbox had been run low on oil and with worn out engine/gearbox mount...and wear had occured. Allowing the car to pull its self out of gear in overrun in 1st.

Apparently the 1st and 3rd gear shaft was excessively worn...with some slop in it....under load nothing could be heard.

No whining, but did seem to snatch at 3rd gear when selecting it.

The car dealer said they would repair the gearbox and engine mounts inclusive in the price along with a few other niggles with the car.

So far i've done about 340miles in the car and its been a gem to drive...i cant believe the ride on very bumpy rotherham roads. Just soaks it up, but when you shove it into a bend it sticks like glue compared to the Astra Coupe Turbo i had.
