Xenons - Help!

Featured Replies

Hey,

I'm new to this site. Picked up my 05' Fabia vRS the other week. The car is amazing, better than the 04' megane it replaced. I love everything about the car. There has only been one problem. It has factory fitted xenons and one of them has stopped working.

Some times when the lights are switched on the drivers side headlight will not come on and the warning light on the dash pops up too, then sometimes it works fine. Also if you look at them both together they are slightly different colours.

I know there is more than just the bulb with the xenons so was just wondering if any of you guys had had any similar probs or any ideas as to which bit is faulty?

Thanks

Jay

First of all, check the blindingly obvious and make sure that there are no electrical connections behind the light unit that are obviously loose/corroded/stretched. VAG group cars seem to have a knack of having wires that are too short :D

Cheers mate will check that 2moro, i didn't think that Fabia came with the bulb warning on the dash but i must have been misinformed.

Mine has the bulb warning and hasn't got xenons...

BE VERY CAREFUL! Very high voltages involved with Xenons :eek:

just check the connections are all pushed in correctly into the back of the light unit.

You may be able to pull a code off if one has failed. The bulbs are supposed to be good for years/lots of mileage but it's not to say they won't fail.

HaHa.. and dont I know it.

Decided to play around with mine on my old car. Didnt disconnect the battery (a mistake i will never make again), and they hadnt been fitted too well by the previous owner.

Lets just say my arm felt a bit tingley for a while.

I don't think anyone expected that.
