Boost gauge installation, where can i find a connection for nightlight

Featured Replies

I have just installed my Prosport Boost gauge. Looks very nice …..just one problem left.

The gauge has a day/night switch so the light is white by day and when you turn the light switch and it will go green (almost skoda green :D )

Now I need the find a place where I can fit the cable for the green light, somewhere that only gets power when I turn the light switch to “night” mode.

Can't you just run a line to the headlight switch?

Actually, you might be better finding the terminal that controls the illumination for the stereo and running off that...

I think headlight switch is the norm.

should be a dimmer switch on the HU somewhere.

Yes I thougt about connecting to the lightswitch but where?

I have pull it apart and release the plasticbit, but which wire to cut or where to connect the cable.

Will try to find the dimmer switch, dont know if it works cause all my light are on in the car from the first setting on the lightswitch, instruments, ACC and so on.

Have a look down the bottom of this page OVD - Ottawa Vdubbing :: View topic - Mk4 or B5 Passat W8 Interior Light Installation

It won’t work here in Sweden :(. We have low beams on all the time and there for the dimmer is on all the time.

I think that the big connector to the headlight switch should have a good wire to connect to but I can’t find which one.

looking at the wiring diagram in my manual, at the back of the lighting switch there is a yellow/red wire for the headlights not the sidelights which I have just tested with my volt meter. There is 0.02v present with just the sidelights on, but 12v with the headlights on.

If you do use this wire, Its before the fuse box, so I would recomend using an inline blade fuseholder with a 5A fuse. Better being safe than sorry:thumbup:

I've got Prosport gauges fitted in mine with white day & green night & they look the biz:D.

The answer is the black/white in top right corner, works like a dream now.

Thanks for the advice! Will install a 10 amp fuse for the main power line (red), connected that one to one of the incoming lines just below the fusebox. A glass fuse for my new green light connection will work just fine.

Anyone know if this can be activated by a VAG COM as I would like the lights on all the time.:D
