Pilgrimage to Jabba for a remap ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Need a few opinions...

I've got a standard 06 vRS and I want to get a decent remap to improve performance throughout the rev range.

It's unlikely that I will upgrade anything else apart from maybe an uprated clutch if/when the oem one dies and possibly adding the PD160 intake.

That's about it. I read good things about Jabba but I live in Devon so it's bit of a drive (4-5 hours)

Would you:

A - Not bother getting Jabba to remap and just find a good local remapper(superchips etc, does anyone know of one around Exeter/Devon?)

B - Go to Jabba and get a custom remap (would a custom remap on a standard car without any real individual requirements be any different to a generic?)

C - Go to Jabba and get a generic remap (because its the best option?)

cheers

I've driven there a few times for mapping. If you're planning on remaining fairly unmodded in hardware terms, I would say it is worth the drive. Definitely worth the drive back. ;)

I can't think of anywhere around/near Exeter to be honest.

PS: Are you free 31st August. Doing a Jurassic Coast tour starting from Exmouth that day. ;)

That's been my thinking as well, seem to offer one of the best remaps and they've been pretty helpful so far in answering my questions.

Don't mind the drive and as you say it will be a good trip back !

I'm going to be up the Lake District then, going away on the Saturday for a week but cheers for the invite. I will try and make it to a meet when I'm around.

I admit I've never done there and back in a day - Usually stay at relations about 30 miles away from Jabba and then drive back after the mapping.

At the moment I'm not running their mapping though.

I'd stay overnight, already looked up the local holiday inn etc !

As a general remap be it custom or generic on a standard-ish car I guess Jabba would be pretty good.

I suppose if I go for a custom map and accept that I'm going to replace the standard clutch with an uprated one in the future then maybe I could get a higher map.

If I'm going all that way I think I'd go for a custom over the generic map, might as well.

Custom is the only reason I'd go there. I'm sure I could think of plenty of places to get a generic map from without the need for a 600 mile round trip. Bound to be somewhere within a short drive, and probably even someone who will come to you. :)

How much better would a Jabba custom map be though compared to their or someone elses generic map ?

Really just after a smooth map that levels out the torque throughout the rev range.

As I said, I don't mind if I have to upgrade the clutch in the future but would prefer to avoid dmf probs !

Any recommendations for a more local generic map ?

Thanks for your help. Think I may have seen you driving through Topsham a couple of months back ? Looked like your car. I'll give you the thumbs up next time

If you go custom, Jabba can remap how you want it. If you want smooth power across the rev range they can do that. If you want full on power from the word go, they can do that. Speak to Mike and tell him what you want, once mapped you get to take it for a drive anyway and if its not quiet how you want he'll tweak it some more.

my jabba map is awesome, and the guys at jabba realy know there stuff,if you do make the trip i wouldn't bank on just getting a re map tho,its an aladins cave is that there jabba sport:thumbup:

Been there, done that - 2 weeks ago to be exact. :D

Car is otherwise standard apart from a few suspension mods. Custom map is really smooth and progressive and most of all component friendly which I was I asked for.
