Second car?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My grandparents are giving me their car, as they don't need it anymore. I have my superb but have always wanted their car as a run about.

I got rear ended yesterday in the Superb, so now I have a claim on my insurance.

Obviously because the new car will be my second car, I will have no no claims anyway, but when clicking yes to the have you had any accidents etc etc I now can't get quotes online, or if I do they are outrageous!

Te new car is a 1995 Mazda, 1.5 lol, so not beasty or anything!

Does anyone have any reccomendations as to who to go to for this kind of thing?

if someone hit you why are you claiming on your insurance ?

I had to call my insurance company who then claim it through the third party that hit me...but it still counts as a non fault claim :(

what a joke i would go mad if someone hit me and it affected my insurance

Best bet is to phone round, rather than trying to use the 'net and its generic boxes.

Yeah it is pants...although my insurer has sai it will not affect my premium next year...but obviously when I mention I've had an accident now, I'm "high risk" First accident in 4 years of driving and it wasn't even my fault! I was stationary at the front of a row of cars when an idiot behind the bloke behind me skidded and hit him, causing him (in a 4x4) to smash into my rear...

********... i notice your from march thats quite close to me I'm in willingham! were trying to arrange a meet up (me and someone in longstanton) wozza_vrs to be precise you interested ?

Why should you be classed as a "high risk" ? it wasn,t even your fault. That doesn,t make sense

why not just phone your existing insurer for the superb and ask them how much for the second car?

Quite a lot of insurers give a discount for a second car.

The impact of a non-fault claim on your incurance should be minimal, but there will be an impact.......it is sometimes hard to see though since renewal prices change from year to year.

when this happened to my Wife in her Micra I think I saw the renewal rise about £25, but who's to say it wouldn't have naturally risen that much anyway? Anyway I rang up the insurer and got them down from their by about £75 becaseu I foudn another insurance business in the same group as them offering me a cheaper quote ;)
