Volvo rolled downhill into my Fabia!

Featured Replies

Came back to my car in a car park today, to find a Volvo V50 had rolled down the slope into mine. :(

You can see from one of the pics that the car park is sloped - although it's not particularly steep.

It's dented the front bumper but it looks like there's not too much damage.

According to someone who saw it, the Volvo sat there happily for half an hour before it rolled away into mine. (Apparently "Volvo" means "I Roll" in Latin.)

Anyhow - unlike the Volvo - I left my Fabia in first gear.

Will it have done my engine or gearbox any damage to be in gear when the V50 crunched into it?

I would say you have been very very lucky, only the bumper is damaged from what I can see.

Were you taking part in an LV car insurance advert?

The headlight doesn't look straight so I would assume that the brackets holding it on are broken ......most things that look simple have a surpise hidden somewhere

Theres no reason it should have dameged your engine or gearbox....just looks like a new bumper/headlight if it's damaged

bet the volvo doesnt have anything more than a few scratches to its paintwork :(

You're absolutely right! It had some scratches but hardly looked dented at all.

Woop woop volvo 1 fabia 0. sorry i just bought a volvo.

doesnt really help you much that so here we go.

the bumper is very easy to remove on the fabia. 4 t20 screws down either side of the wheel arch liner. two screws at either side under the front and two t30 screws at the top in the middle. theres a guide floating around somewhere.

Id take the bumper off and acess the damage from their...... or just let the volvos insurance company do all the work

Hope everything gets sorted for you mate

Hope you got the owners details?

Shame it wasnt a Fiat or Citroen, youd have been ok

Think I'll be going for that option - especially (as Octygone says) there might be other damage that's not immediately obvious. Best get an expert look at it for me
Hope everything gets sorted for you mate
Thanks

@Babs - yes I got the owner's details. Got details of a few witnesses too.

Good good :)

At least not much damage has been done mate, very lucky. This is my 4th car and the lass over the road han either scratched or bumped it and its annoying..

We've repaired the front end of a few Fabia's (including SWMBO's:rolleyes:!!) and i'd put money on needing to replace the following :-

1) Front Bumper

2) Front Bumper Moulding

3) Fog Light (brackets/fixings likely to be broken)

4) Fog Light Surround (same reason)

5) Front Bumper Brackets

6) Headlight (brackets likely to be broken)

7) Front Panel

8) Front Bumper Reinforcement

Once the front bumper has been removed i'm pretty sure you'll find more damage than you'd imagine!!

Get the insurers on the case and let the experts put her back how she should be:thumbup::thumbup:!!

Sorry to hear of your mishap. If I were you I wouldn't touch it myself. I'd certainly take it for professional diagnostics and let their insurance pay for whatever needs doing. I reckon if you start stripping it youself they might find they will use that aginst you. Hope it works out alright.
