Correct Spark Plugs?

Featured Replies

I have a 2022 Karoq 110PS which will need the spark plugs changing soon. I have looked at a couple of on line retailers but they quote different thread lengths for their plugs against my registration. These are 20.5mm, 26.5mm and 28mm. I don't want to fit the wrong plugs so am asking advice on which is the correct plug length for my car? I believe NGK plugs will have been fitted by Skoda originally so will be looking to stay with NGK if I can. Many thanks.

I agree wrt NGK, try their website for model etc and use that info.

If you're DIYing, take one out to check which model is currently fitted.

opie oils is only okay if your are getting best price AND over the "free delivery" limit.

I think that that only works if you can link the VW Group part number with the NGK stock number, at one time, the VW Group branded NGK also had the NGK number on them, but not now I seem to remember.

Okay, VW Group p/n 04E 905 602 D is the same as NGK ILKER7A8EGS stock number 94224 and it has a 19mm reach according to the NGK UK spare parts web cat - and that is what they claim suits Skoda Karoq 1.0TSI 2022 MY, the Skoda VW Group parts listing also offers 05E 905 602 B which is the same as NGK ILKER7B8EGS stock number 91512 and it is listed as having a 26.6mm reach but only used with PR:DS8 - whatever that version is!

Edit:- typically the change from "A" to "B" is just a heat/temperature change, why this, in this case seems to coincide with a "reach" change is strange - I'm just using the "A" and the "B" versions of the plugs my wife's car uses to make that observation, nothing more. Heat change does normally affect the exposure or shrouding of the centre electrode though.

changed "1" to "I"

Don't know if you realised, or it's a typo, but the first part of the VW p/n is different, not just the end? One is 04 and the other 05.

Also the first NGK p/n is just IKER (there's no L in it) IKER7A8EGS (94224)

Looks like the first one is used in 1.0 and 1.4, and the second in 1.0 and 1.5 so, on the basis the 1.4 is older and the 1.5 newer I presume they must have redesigned the cylinder head at some point on the 1.0.
