With regard to Kwik**it and their 30% on Ceat and Pirelli...

I thought Ceat WERE Pirelli ..... What difference would it make between buying a PZero Nero, or a Ceat tyre ???

Re they made in the same place (india) to the same specification ..... ?

I think most people including myself, would justify spending another £45 for a better set of tyres ( the current difference after their offer) - unless there really was nothing in it (or in fact, the cheaper brand was better!)

The argument seems to suggest that the cheaper brand actually holds up pretty well....I'm tempted by the cheaper tyres myself !

Winter car tyres Ceat - Tornado

Winter car tyres Pirelli - P ZERO NERO

Unless the Ceats are better, none at all. They're both rubbish!

The usual argument is Toyo T1-R vs Falken vs Kumho vs Goodyear.

I quite liked my P Zero Neros once the tread release compound had finally worn off ( ), although a day on the track killed them - so much for 'a track tyre for the road'...

Although I would previously have chosen the Toyos from Ken's list (having had several sets), the premature demise of the aforementioned Pirellis meant I didn't have enough for a new set and so I got some Falken 912s insteads. They seem pretty good so far - a bit noisier than the Pirellis (but much less than the Toyos), and although out of the three they are the least grippy by a small margin, they do warn of impending doom with a fantastic Starsky & Hutch squeal! :D

I had some CEAT tyres on my Fabia when I bought it. I can safely say they were the worst tyres I've ever had. I could wheelspin off from pretty much any junction in the wet or dry!

Saying that, they were put on just before I bought the car so chances are they were the cheapest that you could get, still really bad though:thumbdwn:

I'd agree with Ken's list of possible tyres!

Ah ok interesting insight. And for my next question:

Which is the cheapest of all those to get fitted :o)

I have to admit that I've been quite happy with the Bridgestones, excellent wear in return for reasonable performance.

Wow camskill do the proxes for 250 without the fitting, excellent price.

I wonder what the fitting would come to on top of that, I imagine it can't be much more than around £60 ish so in total, that's excellent and certainly a good option.

And Falken ZE912's for 192.00. My money saving side is in overdrive now

I'm sold best on the proxes though - seem to be slightly better all round based on many ratings (if collective ratings are anything to go by anyhow)

I always find camskill are good:thumbup:.

With regards to fitting, you could use the mytyres fitting stations search here. It'll give you a good idea of where in your area is cheap - I pay a local guy £10 but I have been to places that have said they want £20 as they aren't getting the sale:rolleyes:

I have to admit that I am a cheap ******* and went for the Kumho's.

IN fact didn't use camskill although very nearly would have; However someone at work talked me into using blackcircles instead on account of them having Kumho's, a nice review system, and the total fitted price was right (so I did in fact come on down...and bought 4).

£180 inclusive.

Kumho are a good tyre in most cases. If you like Bridgestone, then Firestone is their "other" brand.

I bought my last tyres from camskill.... good service, don't buy falken 512's though! worse tyre I've ever used... the 912's are supposed to be better (a newer design)

I've had p.nero zero's before on my fabia, and thought they were really good ......

I had 3 makes of tyre on my Fabia.

The Michelin Pilots that it came with - found these god awful, really poor grip, and noisy too, and looked rubbish they had started to crack on the sidewalls - BUT they had covered 28k!!!!

Toyo T1R - excellent grip wet or dry, found them to be average in the noise stakes, loud over uneven road surfaces. Only lasted 10k on the front.

Sumo Firenza ST-08- Great for £49 a tyre fully fitted. Pretty poor levels of grip in the wet it has to be said, but they cope darn well in the dry. Little bit noiser than the toyos, but they look quite good and hoping theyll last
