why is my main dealer being nice?

Featured Replies

hey all, my fab was 3 years old on the 27/7/08 (please dont think i got it a card or present!) anyway, on the 29th i gets a call from dealer in leeds asking if i was happy with the car, to which i said no due to the fact that for over a year now i get a terible radio signal and quality, and speakers keep cutting out and cd's always jump

(and i know what the obvious points are to them not working and its not them)

its been in under warranty on that and i was told there was nothing wrong with it so just mumbled in dissapointment and thought it was just my luck so have had to live with it. anyway i told them the story and they said even though it is out of warranty they will check with warranty and get the work done, put me in a courtesy car (which they told me i was too young for any other time) and keep me posted on the situation

now maybe its just good customer service but i cant understand why the effort on such a small non mechanical issue they will try get it fixed under warranty, why are they being so helpful?

Because they are hoping you will change to a new car now its 3 years old ;)

you know i was thinking that but i told them i couldnt afford the work if it wasnt to be covered by waranty coz ive just got married and they still carried on with it, although its funny because as much as i love the fab i wouldnt mind something new;)

Good deals on the new Fabia...

But yeah, sounds like they're trying for more business!

I also think they are after new business.

I bought my Skoda two years ago from a Skoda dealer, and within a few months I got a letter, saying that they had some good deals on newer models and that they could offer me a good part exchange value on my current car.

I bet they couldn't offer me the £5,500 I paid for it three months earlier though!

I think the two facts are more than a little related! ;)

Oh definitely!

They are only doing their job so milk it for all it's worth, lol. If you sound a little interested in a new model they may bend over backwards to sort out your current probs. Good luck!

Before the VRS I had a 13.5 year old Audi A4. I once made the mistake of taking it a main dealer to get some work done. Ever since then, I keep getting promos through the door.

The last one - for the launch of the B8 A4 - even had full-on 140ish gsm card, with my name printed into the original artwork - must have cost a couple of quid to produce - each one was unique to each customer.

How they think someone is going to update from a car worth £800 to one worth £25k is beyond me. I guess all their computer sees is "A4 over 3 years old."

Since having the pedal box replaced for free on my old Lupo Sport about 2 years ago, both Cardiff and Newport VW send me info on every f*cking offer they have on!

maybe they'll take ur car in to fix your speaker audio problem and then introduce some other forced human failure hoping that because they fixed the radio for you, you would be inclined to take your car back to them to fix whatever new problem they caused being it mechanical or electrical....:cool::cool::cool:

They want you to keep going back there for your MOT, servicing and parts because they make an absolute killing on that.!!

If they keep you sweet now... they hope they have you for the life of the car.

And to be honest fixing it will cost them next to nothing compared to the amount of money they made from you buying and servicing the car so far, and what they hope to make in the future.!

Michael

Yep , pretty standard practice. People go somewhere that has looked after them , so if they think youre happy with them , they will expect you to want to return!
