My Dad - after tempting fate on my poor Octy before going holiday - had his engine light come on whilst I was away (serves him right for cursing my already cursed Octavia). Anyway turned out there was nothing wrong with it when he took it to the garage today. They cleared the fault (unknown something with the oxygen sensor), and drove it for sometime and it didn't rear its head! I think some of the reasons they come on are abit pointless.

mine has come on this morning for the 1st time whilst i've had the car, and i cant get it to go away :thumbdwn:

Had mine for almost a year now and havnt had one yet

(I am touching wood right now)

Constantly! reason being my Blueflame's cat is not correct and BF wont rectify for me so i live with it and get it turned off near MOT time :)

I thought there was a way around that - fit a spacer on the second sensor?

Or something.

yea but currently i just live with it,

It'd drive me mad, I'd have to sort it out :D

Why it goes nicely with the ESP light!

The ESP is a pain when it comes on - with my car anyhow - it disables the use of my throttle! I had to cruise to a stop the other day before I could switch off the engine and turn it back on. Turns out to be muck in the throttle. Touch wood it will behave now!

so turn it off!

It's supposed to do that, but it's supposed to let you start using the throttle again when the wheelspin stops. Well, that's how it works on the 110 anyway.

Bit late I know but its another 'NEVER' for me :D

Only when I switch the ignition on, to show the light is working.

I didn't know that. Though I don't think it has let me do that anyway. It usually stalls lol! I hope it doesn't come on again so I can find out.

all the time; because the water temp keeps coming up, even though all is well...

oly happens when engine is cold

Never. :)

With that spec if must take some seriously assertive driving to get wheelspin anyway; ignoring driving on ice  I only get it moving off from rest, turning, and using all 185lbft of torque at the same time, on a wet road!
