Got my first quote today through our current lease co. Elegance Tdi CR 170 DSG 36 months @ 12,000 miles per annum £350.87 (+£35 for maint). £375 over 24 mths (non-maint)

Needless to say I'll be shopping around as I'm pretty sure they can do better

I'd speak to your local dealer, those figures aren't too hard to beat. If your local to Epsom it might be worth me working out some figures for you.

I have a 55 plate Superb 1.9 Elegance up for a change in December. It is a company car.

The leasing company we used has quoted (3 years/90k).

2.0 TDi 170 Elegance Manual - £467 fully maintainance

2.0 TDi 140 SE - £416 fully maintened

1.9 TDi SE - £402 fully maintened

The "benchmark" car we have is a Mondeo Zetec which come in at £375

What does everybody think of these quotes?? I need the Elegance to be around £400 to push it through with my company!

Thanks

These sound expensive to me.

I got quotes from most of the major lease companies recently, and all of them were asking around £400/month for a TDI 170 Elegance. This included european breakdown, full maintenance and tyres, tax disc, accident management and loan car.

Having said that, the lease company used by my company is quoting me £501/month for the same deal. This is because my company get the lease people to build in all of the other costs of running the car scheme into each quote. This surcharge is getting larger all the time, as fewer people stay in the scheme :-(

I've decided to cough up the dosh, as I really want the car, but I wasn't happy about it.

Bagpuss.

It seemed expensive to me. I would have thought £400 a month more than attainable when I started.

The company will not allow a £100 difference between the Mondeo and the Superb so hopefully somebody can supply a cheaper quote.

Can you tell us who the leasing company is?

Arnold Clark

Do you have any choice in this? I'm guessing not.

I got quotes from ING, Lex and Leaseplan. All of whom came to about £400/month.

Interestingly, the price via our corporate scheme (administered by ING) was much higher. It could be that Arnold Clark are doing the same thing with your company.

It might be worth getting a few quotes from these other companies, and they challenging Arnold Clark on their prices. It might also be worth considering opting out of the company scheme, assuming you get a cash alternative.

For me, I'd be worse off opting out, but that's only because I do about 30,000 personal miles a year, and the company pays for the fuel.

Bagpuss.

Any idea what's the best APR I should expect for 3 year hire purchase?

 I bet Gordon's boys would love a chat with you!!

I'm no expert but I think in the current climate the price of leasehire will be rising as companies are concered about residuals and probably find it difficult to predict at the moment.

The tax on private fuel benefit is pretty punitive, for a 170 CR Elegance the benefit would cost a 40% tax payer about £1400/year, I personally opt out of this benefit but in Bagpuss's case it is definitely worth taking as he is covering so many private miles.
