Walkie Takies?

Featured Replies

I need to get a couple of PMR446 type Walkie Talkies , ideally with rechargeable batteries included.

What's best to buy?

A decent range is good but we don't want to spend a fortune.

You could try maplins.

Yep , they have a few.

Just hoping someone might have bought something recently they can recommend

Just bought 4 doro wt86' for the road trip, cost £60 including recharging stands and hands free ear peices. Haven't tested them over massive range yet but over a km or so they are very clear.

MAKRO have Binatone Terrain 550 on £33.99 for a pair BOGOF (4 radio's for £33.99 +VAT) @ the moment

Flog the 2nd pair on the bay and you're onto a winner

Binatone dont seem to be compatible with many accesories. Got some Cobra microtalk, cant remember how much for, but for car to car (I also use a headset for handsfree) they are brilliant, and worked well at the recent steam show we went to.

That's tempting as we could use more than two easily enough.

Wonder if I know anyone with a Makro card?

Where did you get them?

ive got some bt ones which you can add handsfree too has the main 8 channels and then the millions of sub channels. try and get one you can recharge and also takes standard batteries in case you are stuck short.

They where on offer at Comet, but iirc price was similar on either Play or Amazon

I used to have a couple of Cobra's which I lent to a mate and he trashed, then he bought me a pair of Motorolas to replace them. They're all much of a muchness, give about a mile range when you in the car, or 5km on flat ground.

I got some from maplins, can't recall the model, but motorolla, they have a closed loop at the top which is the antenna. Makes them a little more bulky than some but very handy as can be very easily attached to things like a rope or rucsac.

They have vox etc and seem to work well enough.

Think any of them other than bargin basement ones will be fine, get a few sub channels and good range, as it will be less in real world situations.

Quite a few places online, I would of got them from, except I left it too late for the trip.
