battery troubles

Featured Replies

hi,

having a problem with my felicia classic - a few nights ago the battery zeroed itself, not sure if i left anything on but pretty sure i didn't. took the battery out (which was a pain) left it charging overnight, refitted the battery and now my electrics seem stuffed. it now starts, but a few lights on my dashboard refuse to go out even when there's no key in the ignition (if it helps, it's the oil warning light and whichever two are adjacent to it; and the rear de-mister light) and i've noticed a wierd whirring coming form behind the dash, specifically in the area around the battery.

annoyingly, if you pop the bonnet and try to locate the source of this noise, it seems to be coming from the cabin, and from the cabin it seems to be coming from the engine bay. the rear de-mister light specifically won't go off if you push the button (in other words, it stays on regardless of wether the rear de-mister is actually on or not) and stays on if you start the car whereas the other three turn off. this is making me extremely paranoid, so i've left the battery disconnected for now while i panic far away from the car. has this happened to anyone else in the past or is it just me? was it too much to expect a simple battery recharging to be simple, easy, quick and painless?

Hi and welcome to Briskoda. I would firstly check whether any water is getting into the fusebox. A common problem is the windscreen seal failing and water then gets into the fusebox which creates peculiar electrical problems. The fusebox is located under the dash in the passenger footwell.

Hiya, and :iagree:

seems to me that the fuse/ relay box is the sourse of your problems, i applyed a wd-40 on it and sealed any place where water could get in
