My Octavia will be loaded for hols

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am going on holiday in my 2004 PD diesel estate. We will have 5 adults, top box, two bikes and kitchen sink (well almost). The car will be carrying a lot of weight and I am worried about the suspension. Can anyone advise pls. Should I be fitting any parts to help the poor old car from bottoming out? Thanks in advance.

Hello and Wecome.

Axle stands?

i managed to put the seats down in my octy II sport hatchback and load if from front seat to back with books and crap for a car boot last year, the suspension did drop but car seemed fine with it even through it looked like the car had been lowered.

Welcome :)

I wouldn't worry, We used to load our Oct'y up and then put a Caravan on the back!!

We have just returned from our hols in the Roomy which was loaded to the brim and still returned about 47.5mpg.

Hiya.

There should be kerb weight and gross vehicle weight figures model by model in the handbook.

Hi all

You could fit suspension assisters (doughnuts) on you rear springs.

This will help prevent bottoming out, and should not make any differance in the handling.

I've had them fitted to my Octavia elegence 1.9tdi (130 bhp) with no problems.
