L & K Valuation

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

have to sell my April 2007 L&K 2 litre Dsg Estate with 32000 on it to raise cash for a very large unexpected rax bill :thumbdwn:

Thinking i may trade in for a new fabia on pcp for a few years,i have been offered around £12000 from a local dealer is this about right considering i paid £19200 only16 months ago? thats around 38% seems a little steep to me.

thoughts would be appreciated

hope ive posted in right section

Thanks

:(

i bought my jan 2007 L&K for £12k with only 7k on the clock. so i reckon £12,000 is about right then. but then again, mine's diesel...

I was assuming it was a Diesel and got this - quite a bit better than a petrol

Skoda Octavia Laurin & Klement

2.0TD Diesel 5-door Estate

6 Speed Automatic Front Wheel Drive

Year: 2007 07

Mileage: 32,000

Estimated value of your car

Part-exchange Price:

Excellent condition:

£13800

Average condition:

£12300

Below average condition:

Lets face it, if you brought a concourse-winning car into a dealer, he'd still only give you book "average" price for it... which is still £12000!

ps looked at the new fabia 2 estate and some cracking pcp deals on so may go that way

Try other dealers.

Try to remember that you wuld get a better price if you were trading in but as a cash sale there isn't the profit from the new car to dip into.

If they have dropped the amount it sounds like they're seeing how desperate you are.

It's a nice model and great spec so should sell easily but less so now with everyone watching the pennies.

I wish people would realise that 'book' is only a guide and that's all it ever is.

All the guides values take are the averages for that vehicle as it goes through BCA. The trade very rarely buys at auctions now as it is too expensive.

Very few cars now make 'book' most are running miles behind. For example we had a chap with a Jag S-Type 07/07 done 13,000 miles in a reasonable colour only bad thing was lack of satnav. It 'books' at £16,600 with a higher mileage the best bid we could find for the vehicle for September was £10,000.That's about 60% of 'book' value.

Sorry if it sounds like a rant, it isn't; I've just had a lot of joe public getting hold of a 6 month old copy of Glass's and getting very offended when I tell them what the car is worth in todays money simply because they don't understand how to use it or how it works.

Back on topic: £10,600 does sound a little low? Was that an offer as a part exchange or just a straight purchase from you?

How much cash do you need to free up?

Yours is a very nice car and there may be someone here with a cheaper car looking to trade up , so you could always consider a trade plus cash if that suits.

hi

need to free up at least £8000 that way bill could be paid and i would have say £3000 left to go towards another car, plus i would maybe finance a chunk as well, been looking at a vectra 1.9cdti 07 plate for £8400,

thanks again for everones help

remove contact details, this is not a for sale thread.

If you have outstanding finance on the car you'll need to clear all of that at the time of sale.

I would give the Vectra a VERY wide berth. With the new Insignia coming out imminently, the depreciation will be horrendous. The Vectra is not a brilliant car anyway, and the gear change is ugh!

luckily there is no outstanding finance on car so that wont be a problem,as for the vectra it looks good to me and it would probably be the diesel with the auto box.

You've been asked already not to offer your item for sale here unless you are a Freedom Member which will then allow you to offer it for sale in the correct forum.

I understand your disappointment in the price you were offered but if you click on this link to Honest John you'll see that prices are pretty cheap at auction just now.
