Radio code...

Featured Replies

Is there any way to get the radio code for my Fabia without putting it into the dealers?

Phoned them today and they want to charge me for a diagnostic check becasue they have to plug it into the computer to get it

Hmm - yes should work if you connect the stereo to the car and then turn the ignition into position 2 before you turn it on?

If from the right car, turn on the ignition, then the radio and the ECU will program the radio with the code.

Assuming you still need a code then they need the serial number from the radio and the vehicle chassis number to generate the number. The nominal charge for this £15.

If you want to try and avoid the charge you could try providing them with the information as well as proof of ownership and see how you get on.

or take it in to have something fixed and when you collect it try and claim they've done it ;)

Send me the radio number of the car starting with SK...... and the chassis number of the car and I might help you.

The code should be on the long plastic thing that the spare key's attached to (assuming you have that)

The 4 digit code on the plastic keytag is the 4 digit SKC and not the radio code.

The other numbers on that tag are a number which is the Dash Panel Insert number and there is also the tail end of the chassis number.

You can read the SKZ number from VAG-COM or by pulling the radio out and reading it from the outer casing of the radio.

The 4 digit code on the plastic keytag is the 4 digit SKC and not the radio code.

Why else would you need to know it, other than to unlock the stereo?

You need the 4 digit SKC (Security Key Code) to add keys, change the dash insert or replace the ECU.

That code does not unlock the radio.

The radio code matching only works if the coede has been entered previously.

in theory if the radio is the same as the one that was installed in the factory that skoda could get the radio code off their computer without you having to go in. but they like you to go in (under skodas rules and regs) so they can check you own the car, that the stereo is for that car and not nicked and you are who you say you are.

The codes on the plastic tags are for the keys, alternitavelt the four digit number could be on the front page of the radio owner's manual on a sticker. But If you remove the radio you'll see the radio number starting with SK ...... and full chassis number of the car and I should be able to help you.

They can't anymore. The codes are being removed from ELSA and now have to be accessed online with the VAS tester.

I just had mine decoded from a complany called dndtld, try them
