Featured Replies

I have just found i need a new ecu unit for my 06 octavia vrs it it only 7 days out of warrenty has any one else had any similiar problem if so how much did it cost to fix

6 days outside warranty.... kick up one hell of a fuss! The dealer should be able to wangle a replacement from Skoda UK.

Unless its failed due to a remap etc.

Why do you need a new ECU?

I do happen to know of someone who has recently had to have a new ECU, there are a couple of variants, with very different prices but at the cheapest I think you'll need to budget £600.

Have just been told that it is faulty i would not know a great deal on how it works ,The epc light and igination warnings lights are on constent and they can not be cleared and the comptuer is just showing up an ecu fault.

I had a VW dealer looking at it today i will bring it to a main skoda dealer tomorrow for a second opinion.

Wonder if its just a software glitch, one would assume they have tried to reflash it. Not going to be cheap that one but i'd hope they have been onto customer care on your behalf, I would assume they would have some good will for that.

EDIT, so you havent been to a Skoda dealer yet????

Did it have a fault before you took it there?

Wonder if this could be fixed with the 2k5 flash Ross?

Could be, I have reflashed a few ECU's for various faults, just depends if its a software or hardware issue.

Surely if it is an '06 car then it is still covered by warranty as it's only 2 years old.

Depends on whether it's a UK car. I don't know where nailer is based or where he bought his car from.

Depends on mileage, its its just gone into its third year and done over 60k then its out of warranty.
