Radio Removal Tool

Featured Replies

I have seen questions on numerous forums about people asking about removing car radios from Skoda Fabias.

Today I have installed a Skoda Symphony CD stereo using a set of (PC5-107-H) Kenwood radio removal tools (Item code 254334) that I purchased from Halfords for £3.99

So if you are having trouble removing a Skoda Stereo try a set of the above tools.

Even junior hack saw blades worked on my mates just cut the ends off with the little hocks on that would normally hold it in the saw. lol

On the newer vrs' with the head unit well and truely rammed in there it seems that these tricks no longer work. you will need the real tool to latch onto the clips so you can use some force to pull the thing out. you should have seen the struggle my local dealer had with the real tools on mine (after i tried filed down kenwoods, cut up credit card and hack saw blades all with no effect...

If you have an old credit card, store card etc, cut into little strips and push it into the holes, that will work a treat.

Not sure what you mean by "newer" vRS if you're still talking about the MarkI, but it's a coincidence this topic should pop up (yet again) today, as last night I thought I'd try and pop my stereo out "for fun". I'm thinking about getting an aftermarket deck in the very near future and after hearing all the horror stories on here I was curious to know how hard it would be for me. I had bought some Kenwood removal keys on ebay as suggested in an earlier thread ages ago and decided I'd give them a try. Couldn't have been easier as the thing just popped out after insertion of the keys and I could easily grip the edges and slide it right out. I've seen photos of members with their glove box and dash in pieces trying to get the thing out, so either I'm lucky or the '06 Fabia vRS' stereo installation is different from earlier models. So I second the suggestion of the Kenwood keys for ease of removal (though I assume this may not be the case with ALL Fabias).

Getting the headunit outs the easy bit.

try fitting the wiring for an external amplifier behind there!

now thats tough

You could well have been very local; you could have borrowed mine :)

I have a 2004 Superb and got my Symphony out with the hacksaw blade approach, easy as.....

I used a couple of planer blades from an electric planer, they are almost tailor made for the holes... My only bit of advice there is to wrap the end that you will be holding with some insulation tape. Planer blades are VERY sharp!!!!!

Get one of these,
