Featured Replies

Has anyone purchased onr of the new units yet?

am thinking about getting one this wkend.

are they any good?

any reviews on the new model yet?

any advice?

thanks in advance

My son bought one because he wanted to try it out rather than his previous Snooper S6R Neo. I also have the Snooper and recently borrowed his Road Angel 2 to compare it.

It's very neatly designed except for the windscreen mount. The power cable tends to make the unit twist round on this because it's mounted on a circular magnetic base. Being completely self contained it's much easier to install and take out than the Snooper.

Sadly, those are the best bits. In use it's much poorer than the Snooper. The voice warnings of approaching Speed Cameras and "Black Spots" are courtesy of Tiffany Dell and his grating tones. In contrast with the Snooper it doesn't tell you what the existing speed limit is on the road you're driving on. I also found the satellite reception to be considerably poorer than the Snooper, although, to be fair, that comes with an external GPS antenna whereas the Road Angel only has provision for adding one.

In summation: I didn't like it and I'll be keeping my Snooper in spite of the fact that it comes in three separate parts which are connected together by a rats' nest of cables.

I always thought the Origin B2 was the daddy of the dectectors. I saw it at the motorshow and was impressed, although I have no need for it.

Don't buy anything at the mo, I just bought a Snooper S5-R for

Ah but mine doesn't "detect" cameras, only my location :D

I bought a new Road Angel 2. As Schtum said, yes it is very neat in design. A nice large screen and sit's nicely on the dashboard mount (I have found that I have to push it right back against the bracket, so it's not sitting as it should on the magnet, but it stops it from moving).

I have got a few things that I don't like about it. I find that it isn't always very accurate with the camera locations. Not that it's out by much, but sometimes it doesn't start beeping until you are on top of the camera. You can change the distance so that it makes you aware in advance, or as I have been doing deleting the location and then re-entering it where the camera actually is.

I had a few issues with the uploads on my PC. The first unit was faulty, which was then replaced with one that appeared to be reconditioned, so after a couple of phone calls, I received a third that works problem free.

Also, the RA2 has different subscription charges to the original. You get 6 months included when you buy the unit (12 months with the original) and
