steady. slow coolant loss

Featured Replies

Alright chaps

Ive had a slow dripping, collant leak for a while now, I cant tell where its coming from, all there is, is a drip gathering on the plastic shielding underneath the car, its passenger side, towards the front bumper.

Iv had the plastic shielding off, but cant see anything that looks like a leak?

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of potential leak areas to check, and where they are located, (dont know my way around too well ,under the bonnet yet)

cheers lads

Lee

Does the coolant level in the reservoir drop? I've got an Octy, so I'm afraid I can't help with the layout of the pipes and tubes on a Fabia, sorry mate.

Do you have orange antifreeze in the system? Only other thing google turned up was Auto transmission fluid, but I'm guessing you have a manual car ;)

yes mate,

orange coolant in the tank and the level does drop in the tank as well.

really frustrating me, i dont want to take it in for an expensive job of a hose tighten or something like that!

Apparently the 1.4-8v engine is susceptible to overheating and coolant leaks - advise is to check all the hose connections around where the leak is occurring and also make sure the oil on the filler cap is not milky as that's a sign your engine might be about to die!

cheers mate, i'll take that sheilding off from beneath the car again and have another look, and check the oil filler cap ontop as well.
