I fully support Russia for coming to the aid of South Ossetia, and for crushing the Georgian military in response to Georgian forces killing almost 2000 innocent people in South Ossetia over two days. Respect and thanks to Russia, but did you have to scratch the Skoda!!

I'd not claim them to be tank-proof, but I have a friend who reports Octys to be Daihatsu 4trak proof (based on hitting an Octy with a 4trak, and losing a corner without scratching the Octy's paint)!

From that angle it looks like it only got the rear bumper as the rest of the car that you can see is intact.

I'm well aware that the British media are biassed (and/or ill-informed). If I see a Middle East story in the BBC, I always check Al Jazeera and the Jerusalem Post for their takes on the same story. Are there any similarly authoritative sites that cover the former USSR?

Pres. Medvedev and PM Putin claim 2000 dead. Human Rights Watch claim more like 40, which happens to be the level quoted in the Western media. Either number is a tragedy, but whom would you believe?

And I'm sorry but would you be so approving if the USA came to Northern Ireland's aid using airstrikes and armoured assaults and then went on a pillaging spree during the Troubles, as the International Committee of the Red Cross say has happened since the Russians 'intervened' in South Ossetia?

ap0gee, what gave you the idea I was being approving? All I said was that I didn't trust our media! I don't actually trust Al Jazeera or the Jerusalem Post either, but in that situation IMO it's better to get views from both (or all 3) sides than blindly accept one! Point taken?

Ok; I just wanted to get my actual stance down in black and white since I had been mis-interpreted. This whole "media distrust" thing actually started from realising how much ill-informed and biassed reporting there was on things I do know about.

No worries Soviet, my girlfriend is North Ossetian so I know the truth aswell as you. It's just a shame that people are being so easily brainwashed by English/American news reporting. Like Ken, I was very surprised to discover how biased the news really is.

Hi, I have also seen this interview with Joe Mestas on Russian news, and I am hearing that he was offering this one, to CNN and other western ones, but they are not so interested, in what he is saying here. This is only what I am hearing.

It is seeming that western media is only listening to itself.
