Slight coolant lose

Featured Replies

My wife who now has my old 03 superb 1.9tdi classic that I use for a taxi that now has nearly 200k has noticed that she has to top up the coolant

She first noticed this after towing our caravan and I wonder if the extra strain would cause this it has never used any coolant before

Check the bottom corners of the radiator very carefully. Leaking radiators are not an unknown fault on these vehicles.

rotodiesel.

As Roto says, it will be the radiator.....

Look at the bottom corners of the radiator and if you see white marks then you have a leak, radiator isn't that expensive but it's a front off job to replace it:

what a job!! no way one can remove and replace a rad without all that work??

My Superb had that problem, I kept on topping it up, and then it sorted itself out and I had no problem - until a woman infront stopped my progress at the roundabout, despite it being free.

It may go after a while 1.9tdi elegance with 109,000 on the clock

You dont have to take the front off to replace the rad, only the front bumper and support and it slides out.

Best off too though if you want to replace the intercooler seals at the same time.........

Superb going in this week for a pressure test possible radiator leek, if they have to remove the radiator they would have easy access to the timing belt would they not????

Yep, just had my 55 plate elegance radiator replaced (warranty) and got them to do timing belt, water pump and other belts. My car was only 47k and not 4 years old till Nov but while the front was off I thought it would save time money.

The Garage took great pleasure in taking pics of the vehicle stripped so they could prove what it looked like last Thursday. Even worse than Bakers:eek:

All put back together, serviced and running sweet as a nut. Just dont mention the bloody rear parking sensors.

I can however remove and replace the rear bumper on a Skoda Superb in 25 mins, can anyone beat that? :)

More than likely ;)

And yes it does make the cambelt a little easier doing a radiator at the same time, not essential by any means.

Leak in radiator confirmed so a full belt change, getting the water-pump changed to the metal one at the same time
