SEAT Strut Brace

Featured Replies

How much difference does this really make and how much will it cost including fitting?

Can't comment on the difference it makes as I don't have one (yet :D ) As for fitting, its just a case of undoing the top 3 bolts on each strut, put the brace in place then put the bolts back in. Any fool can fit one (including colin :D )

And of course a picture :)

Be rude not too :D

can you get it in green :)

and do you hounestly think somebody who knows absolutely nothing about cars could fit it?

Oh and where would I get one from?

Col G managed it, so the answer is yes

:finger:

tho i have to admit it did take 2 attempts :o

Upper brace really does make a difference to the turn in of the car. Much more planted, even on the Michelins.

If you really want to have fun and can put up with a harsh ride, I heartily reccomend a lower brace too! :D

so where do I get it from?

The clue is in the title

SEAT strut brace

i.e from your local SEAT dealer.

make sense now you mention it :P , was realy hoping there was somewhere I could order it online without having to move

lol, lazy git ;)

I read somewhere that in the event of a collision, having a strut brace makes the car more dangerous. Can anyone comment on the validity of this rumour?

Its a piece of p*** to fit - and well worth doing

In theory a big enough brace could effect the cars crumple zones by strenghthing parts that are designed to crush under impact, and therefore passing forces onto other components.

However I cant see the Momo one doing that, and dont forget it is a approved genuine SEAT part covered by SEAT warranty so it should be good enough for us Skoda driver ;)

I realise that the front end of cars that have been estatised (for want of a better word) are usually the same ... however I'll ask anyway. :P

Would the strut brace fit an estate?

Even I can handle four bolts ... as long as I can get hold of a torque wrench :D

whats a torque wrench

I got mine fitted by the dealer before I collected the car, but my dealer is a combined Skoda/Seat dealership.

Not having driven the car without it I don't really know what difference it has made but I've no complaints and the car handles loads better than my previous car, a Leon Cupra.

Only draw back I have found is that once fitted is that I can open the air box to fit my Green Panel Filter.

Would the strut brace fit an estate?
One suitable for the Octavia will fit all the Hatch and Estate variants - ie vRS, 2WD and 4X4. The one above is suitable for the Fabia.

Eww I've been tainted by small-car-ness ... somebody get me out of this post

There is a choice of strut braces for the Octavia. This thread from 18 months ago shows pics of 3 possibles for the Octavia. If you do a search for Octavia strut braces you may well find details of other suitable ones.

To quote 'What mods are worth doing?' at the top of this particular Forum:

Strut Braces

If only the top one is fitted, don

Another supplier is AmD who offer a modified TT brace (at a price  ).

AmD dont offer a modded TT one, they offer an S3 item which fits straight on and the price is the same as if you bought it from an Audi dealer, they are hardly going to buy it from Audi and sell it for less are they.

Thanks for that update, Ross. I will amend RealSkoda's excellent modding info to include the SE brace and drop mention of the modded TT one.

Cheers :)
