Octavia II Headlamp Washers

Featured Replies

I've had my Octy Elegance for just over a year and realised that I had never seen what was under those little square covers on the front bumper!

Searched the internet for photos - nothing!!

So here they are! The world's first pics of the headlamp washers in action ;);)

Also good for soaking 'mates' who are poking around under your bonnet :rofl::rofl:

One of my friends had one of his friends sitting on his Golf's bonnet. He washed the headlamps and soaked the guy's pants like he had peed himself.

Ooo how do you do that?

Picking my L&K up next week: are the jets controlled manually only or do they work every now and then in conjunction with working something else or what?

The jets come out every fifth time you you use the window washers as far as I remember. Being a software developer of profession I think this is more and more fun. And scary...:o

Agree, every 5 washes. Can be a bit scary the first time the washer work in the dark - the light from headlights goes very dim for a second so be careful on a fast corner!

I understand the VW Phaeton fires the washers one after the other to at least keep some light.

Why would you spray the windshield on a fast corner?

With VAG-COM (VCDS) you can delay the starttime of the headlampwashers. I delayed mine to about 3 secs. So I can wash the windshield without the headlampwasher coming out the first time I use them.

If it's covered in salt spray you would want to. You get the idea.

great for getting the car behind if they following close, turn lights on, then put on washers ;) soon drop back

That is correct.

They only work every 5th time if the headlights are switched on! And I stress SWITCHED on, as I've noticed that on my elegance, which has Scandanavian day running lights activated, the headlight washers don't work at all on day runners. The light switch needs to be physically switched to headlights before they work.

Or the auto lights need to have activated!

Sometimes I think great, I'll give the windscreen and headlamps a quick blast of washer in all this salty spray stuff then realise the auto lights have switched off. Little tyke!

I think the washer system does remember the 5 wash rule, auto lights or not, as sometimes my lights will come on and off in a single journey becuase of trees/buildings/tunnels etc, but the washers will not fire on the headlights every time the lights have gone off then come on. If that makes sense - probably not at 1.11am!
