How can this be sorted if it is as i thought the choke cant be ajusted will know more by the end of the week when i can get it in for a diagnostic.

Just went to iceland around the corner and it looks like the petrol consumption is indicating the i have gone to iceland (the country not the store)

Great isnt it, thanks for the help guys

Just to share my experiences with you, I had a Fabia 1.48v MPI that was as economical as it could be for the first few months of ownership (Got 42 MPG on a run), and anyone will tell u that is really good for a 1.4MPI (They were thristy)

Suddenly it dropped to half that MPG if i drove economically!

I ran a vag com scan and lo and behold it was the lambda sensor, the engine management light didnt show up because it was an intermittent fault, and the intermittent faults get cleared every few times the engine is restarted, but it would always be there as a falt code. So basically it was stuck in a loop of being in an intermittent status, think it was a signal implausible error code

I never got to find out if that resolved the issue, as the car was returned to the dealer network rather shortly after!

If it is the AEE engine , i would first try fitting a temp sender (common fault on skodas of this age) The part of the sender that speaks to the ecu could be telling it that the engine is cold and over fueling it. Does it start ok? or is the tickover low on start up, I had a similar problem with my fun and a temp sender cured it
