Emission light????? Help!!

Featured Replies

Hiya my first time posting on this site - but hoping someone might have a clue what the emissions light warning means? It's been coming on when the car is switched on for the last couple of days, but not every time about one time out of the three the car is turned on.

It's an Octavia 1.9 TDi 2004 model. Hope someone has an idea how serious this is - and possible cost of fixing? Someone seemed to think it might be to do with a filter?:confused:

Thanks:)

It could be that somone is thinking that you have a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) on your car, I wouldn't think that to be the case.

Ideally you'd want to have the fault memory read.

Ok thanks Stu - just been doing a bit of searching on the site and looks like EGR valve?? Maybe? Has anyone had this replaced recently and know the cost? Not wanting to sound like a miser, but we've been forking out a lot for car repairs lately grrrrr.

EGR is around £150 IIRC.

But without a simple diagnostic check you could be spending good money on the wrong fault.

Many members here have the software and equipment to help you, either FOC or for the price of a pint. Your correct location in your Bio always helps.

Agree with Stu don,t pay out until you get a fault diagnosis first.Could save you ££ in the long run.

Ok I have edited my profile - what do I need to do to ask someone to diagnose fault with the software and equip? Thanks guys :)

I should add that you need somone with either HEX+CAN or Micro CAN

Thanks I have pm'd the guy in my area.

When my emissions warning light came on it was due to a faulty fuel temp sensor. Since changing the sensor I have not seen the fault again.
