Hello, I am an owner of a 54 plate Octavia tdi 105bhp model, used as a taxi with 159k on the clock. Just found this site and wished I had sooner. Had the usual and some unusual problems with old Betsy. But she has been worked hard but driven kindly (not the usual Damon Hill wannabee taxi driver). I am the only driver of Betsy, don't trust anyone else with here. Crankshaft sensor going, so nursing her for another few days before i change it. Just done the mass air flow sensor, and core plugs. Betsy due for major service soon, i do it myself at least I know its done properly and I use only the dealer bits not cheap Chinese knock-offs. Good to find a site where all here have same enthusiasm for the octy.

Ps I learnt to drive in a Skoda 105, rear engine, pram wheels and deckchairs for seats. Loved It. How they won their class in the rallies in the 80's I'll never know.

Sounds like you've been finding your way around the car already.

Hello & welcome :)

Hiya.

I gotta ask; are core plugs a service item!?

I can explain how Skoda did so many class wins in the 70s and 80s; RWD traction and the one and only John Haugland driving!
