Tyre roar?

Featured Replies

Is it normal for the road noise to increase as the tyres wear out? I've got a couple mm of tread left on 3 of my tyres but just lately I'm hearing a noise I haven't noticed before when driving above around 40-45mph - the best way I can think of to describe it is it's like a low flying plane constantly above the car! Weird... I hope it ain't anything else.

Yes , the michelins I had on when I bought the car were very low and sounded like a jumbo jet

if you have Bridgestones on , they are some of the worse for tyre noise when worn

I have Bridgestones on and they roar like f**k now they are worn....:thumbdwn:

I got Conti Sport Contact 2's on there. Gonna have to give them a change then methinks... thank God that's all it is!

I have conti' SC2 on mine from new aswell and they got very loud when worn . changed them to Toyo Proxes and they were much better. but then again anohter set on conti's would have been too. I do find the Toyo's grip better but then I can't compare. Only way is to do it side by side and it's costsly that way.

I'm gonna try getting away with changing just the front one for now - the priece of changing all 3 will make me cry. One of my front ones is nearly new due to a puncture that couldn't be repaired not so long ago. Cheers guys.

the noise is usually worse/more noticible from the rear tyres , so if you can get all 3 done that would be better , winter is only just round the corner and you don't want skinny treaded tyres then

If 3 need doing, I'd be inclined to get all 4 done.

You'd most likely get a good deal on 4 anyway, which could mean the 4th is near enough free any way ;)
