Clutch Advice

Featured Replies

Please keep this one on topic people :)

Right,

my clutch has packed in (just driveable and no more)

The car has a Revo Map, not too agressive i dont think..but has just lasted 114k on the original clutch.

Not planning on chasing more power, so i dont see the point in spending pennies on an uprated item/smf etc...

I currently have a spare DMF sitting here.

What else do i need ?

Can i just buy the oem sachs item from GSF at £89 + vat ?

Or do i also need a release bearing (cant find anything listed for the ASZ though)

Thanks people. :)

When i changed mines in a similar situation to yours i never changed the release bearing and its been fine since :)

Its fun driving around with hardly any clutch isnt it?

Great fun...especially when it comes to hills :D

Is there anyway to tell if the release bearing is in need of replacement ?

You mean the thrust bearing?

It will rattle and make noise in neutral and this should dissapear when you depress the clutch.

No idea bud, i never got one with my kit so didnt assume i'd need one. Tbh for the length of job you might as well whack a new one on while your there especially with higher mileage

Oops.my bad.

Something in my head said it was called that. :)

Well it certainly doesnt make a noise at the moment. :)

At 114k I would get it done if your getting the clutch done regardless as if it goes then it's gotta come all apart again.
