For those of you who still have a Mk1, I finally fitted the toy Stu ordered for me.

Was really shocked when it came up red - I thought it would be green!

The top part of the display didn't come on until I hooked up the satnav with three extra wires (clock, data and enable - the 3 Line Bus). It shows your current radio station / cd track.

I'll snag another picture later. Looks purdy, especially in navigation mode.

Edit: Added pictures with the nav attached.

That looks really sweet J, nice work.

Have they arrived yet? Cant wait! I'm like a big kid about to get a new toy!!

Currently making their way across Europe according to the tracking.

The Maxidots arrived today, the three that are having them posted out have been PM'd and all being well you'll get them Friday before 1pm to the address you gave me.

Those of you requiring them installed then please PM me and I'll get in touch with the guy that does them.

Craig.......

Maxi Dot turned up at work today, yipeeeeeeee. Just been to local dealer (Autohouse Skoda, Northampton) they will fit it on Thursday. No dramas, no saying it can't be done, just asked to remember to bring spare keys. Big thanks to STU for all his efforts.:D

Out of total interest how much are they charging you for the pleasure of the install?

Maxidot arrived today.

Huge thanks to you, Stu, for all your efforts in this Group Buy.

Also thanks to 24v raddo for initially setting up the GB.

Those of you having them fitted at your own dealers -

Remember both keys and if you have it the original plastic key tag.

Attached to the top of the insert are two stickers which are the 4 digit SKC for the Immo. One of these should be stuck to the plastic tag or maybe in the front of the service book if you don't have the tag.

Part way through the programming the maxidot will display 'End of Line Error' this is perfectly normal, so it might be worth advising the garage not to panic but just keep going if they see that.

I will make sure you have my number in case you do have a question which I may be able to answer.

Hi Stu

Just wondering will there be any extra coding with VCDS to be done for those people having them fitted at there local dealers with them not being factory fitted, if the dealers are going to follow the procedure "fitting one being replaced under warranty" won't that be presuming there was already one fitted ? that may take care of the data and immo etc but what about functionality with the rest of the car and any other retro fitted parts for eg MFD2, RNS510, Bluetooth etc.

Craig.......

No extra coding is needed, it just works. Depending on your convienience ECU some functions may or may not be available, eg. I cant set things like the alarm beep, or door autolocking but some can.

the only coding i can remember was for the steering, but stu's contact told me to do a full right lock and a full left lock from a centre position (as thats all they do to get rid of the steering light).

Anybody had there Maxidot fitted yet ? mine goes in tomorrow afternoon . I'd like to wish all my fellow Group buyers every success with there imminent transplants.

:orb_nurs

Craig.......

Mine went in today, Maxidot fitted but they couldn't code it as their computer had crashed  so they had to refit the original. I will have to wait over a week now due to work commitments. On the plus side i'll get to see the lovely Sam again (their receptionist).

Have they mentioned a price yet ?

Should be 1 hours labour

Chris I'm sure you've told me but I can't remember, do you have the plastic tag?

If you do then they don't need the online connection which is probably what they are having their problems with.

I had mine fitted at Parkside Skoda in Bolton today and it looks the Dogs BOOLooks very happy with it. They said everything went well apart from programming both keys back in and they had to wander away from the VAS computer and sort it out them selves but they did it and they charged me £59.93 inc vat which i'm more than happy with. This is the first time i have dealt with these guys and i must say what a pleasure it was they are like a group of enthusiasts just like us and i will be back there for all my servicing and repairs in the future because they are such a pleasure to deal with. A BIG THANK YOU TO PARKSIDE SKODA IN BOLTON. Also a BIG THANK YOU TO VRStu without all this would not have been possible CHEERS MATE YOUR A STAR AND I HOPE YOU ARE VERY PROUD OF YOURSELF BECAUSE YOU DESERVE TO BE.

Hi Stu, yes I have the plastic tag, but the probblem is that their computer has crashed, popped in to the dealers today and they still have problems with it. Sam the lovely receptionist told me that they've got a car waiting for an ECU update and two other cars waiting for keys to be coded. I'm booked in again week tuesday, earliest I can get there soi'll just have to wait

Good news Craig, nice to see a helpful dealers.

Agonising wait then Chris :(

Hi Guys

I have taken some before and after photo's of the Maxidot fit that i will post when i learn how to, I thought it would be a good idea to have photographic evidence when you have changed the dashpod if only for future nervous buyers. One thing i did notice was the mileage it was 36758 before the swap and 36751 after. 7 Miles Less

Craig.......

Edited by SoulRider

There isn't supposed to be any differance in the mileage, the VAS computer system reads all of the stored information from the existing dash instert and then when swapped over will program those values into the new one.

Perhaps the dealership did it manually - which is possible.
