Remote Unlocking - All doors

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was wondering how easy it is to set the car up so that one click of the key would unlock all of the doors? Is this something I would need to do at the dealers?

Thanks

John

Not sure if Vagcom can do this.

Not sure if Vagcom can do this.

It sure can!

No need to go to the dealers if you can get a hold of someone in your area with a registered version of Vag-Com.

It is just a case of adapting the code in the control unit.

It sure is. Especially when you've got a 4year old that pulls the handle constanly.

While your at it mate, if you still want the other doors locked feature just stick auto locking on it when the car moves above 10mph the car car autolocks

Sorry lads and thanks for your help so far. Was just wondering what VAGCOM was and if it was expensive and if I could do it myself? Seen a few things on e-bay for about £12 - is that what I am after?

Thanks again!

Yep you can get them on ebay, it's a cable which you plug into the diagnostics port, to the right of the steering wheel (Pull down tray, air con can holder), as long as you have a laptop that is XP compatible you will be fine should be version 409.1?? I think your looking at for it to work on xp.

Thanks for that! Am having my 60.000 mile service and cambelt done on Monday at a franchise. I'll ask them nicely if they can do it for free, if not E-bay it is!

I am more and sure the garage will obleige. Glad that we're here to help.

Don't think the ebay cables will do it anyway.

Whereabouts are you based, grecianite? You might find someone with the proper cable is local and willing to sort this out for you if the garage don't play.

Hi,

That's a good idea and would definitely be appreciated!!

I am in Devon, Cullompton to be precise but work in Exeter.

Thanks!!

:)

If you are having the auto locking at 10 mph done, get them to get it to unlock when the keys are removed from the ignition. If you are having a 60000 mile service and a cam belt done, with the sort of money that you are spending it would not be un reasonable to ask them to do this free of charge, it will only take them 10 minutes.

Yep, I'll def ask for both of the above things. Can anybody think of any other nice things I could try and ask for?

Also, getting my 60,000 service and cam belt done for £400 - think (only think!!) I've got a good deal!

Vag-Com is diagnostic software for Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda.

You can download a shareware version 409.1 from Ross-Tech. This is a free download and will allow you to scan individual control modules for fault codes. You can then erase them, if any are present, once you sort the reason they are there in the first place.

If you want to carry out adaption, as in, enable auto lock, alarm beep etc then you have to register the shareware version. This cost $99 and will allow you to do more with the software.

Of course all this software is no good unless you have a compatible cable, or interface as Ross-Tech calls it. I purchased mine from eBay, from an American seller called Alphabid and i havent had any bother with it at all.

Buy a cable, download the shareware version 409.1 and have a play. The cable is only about twelve quid.

One other thing, version 409.1 does not run on Vista, you need a computer with XP.
